Middle of set shaft lengths

Does shaft length matter in the middle of an iron set much other than its effect on lie angles? I just got some new irons that are “standard” length yet they are “tour standard” I guess the company calls them at 35.5” 5Iron - about 3/8” shorter than what I’m used to and have plyed for yrs. But, does it really matter on the 4,5,6,7,8,9 irons? I was thinking that in my old set - (where my 6 is about the same length as my new 5) it wouldn’t matter much - as its just the number on the club and a few degrees loft as long as my lies are the same my swing would be used to adjusting with a range of lengths from say 35.5 - 39?

The new set pw needs about 1/4” added to match my gap and sand wedge and as long as I put the 1/4 back on my pw to make my shortest clubs the same as they were in the old set, I can’t see how it would matter much as my swing would be used to that range of lengths. Does this sound correct? Other than setting lie angles and possibly relearning yardages which I will be doing anyway?

Opinions or past experiences?

Club lengths is a question of a comfortable stance, and eye to hand coordination.

We all meet a boarder at both ends, but its individual where, and why, so in theory, your thinking is right, but be aware of club balance or feel of head weight when clubs is made shorter. Just make sure head weight is good, or add some lead tape.

I idea you might not have though about is rebuilding the set to 3/8" between clubs, and you can start in the long end, so you get closer to standard as you go into the shorter end, so take a look on this chart first.
