Breakthrough Golf Technology's Stability Shaft vs. UST Mamiya's Frequency Filtered putter shaft

I had a UST shaft installed in a head a few years ago. I was focussed more on the feel back then and it didn't win me over. Now BGT has their Stability Shaft with virtually identical superficial construction at a 6x price point, touting its more precise-low torque, etc. performance. I have BGTs shaft in a head and really like it. That said, I also have a Gravity Grip on that shaft for that head and really really like the Gravity Grip and might not be able to discern what I'm liking more, the grip or the shaft.

Has anyone recently put USTs and BGTs shafts head to head with similar heads and have a good opinion? Does anyone know USTs specs for their shaft? They don't bother publishing, while BGTat least touts their ultra low torque numbers.

What ya'll think? At 6x USTs price point, I'm not sure BGT has a corner on the market...

Obviously with heads becoming heavier, there is a risk of vibration on the putter face but at the same time, the stroke speed is far from being as fast as driver swing. Undoubtedly it is a very expensive shaft and some time ago Kyle Sears from Kingston putters told me that he recommended stepped shafts like the True Temper YSC as they offered the best stability of all putter shafts out there, yet stepped shafts are not nice to the eye of some people.

I haven't used neither BGT nor UST. I only had putts at the shop with an Odyssey with Stroke Lab shaft. I wasn't impressed, moreover I hated all the graphics same as I hate the BGT graphics. The last thing I want is to be is a walking billboard every time I'm on a green.

I'm getting my Stability Shaft this Monday and I'll see how it goes. The real test would be to get on something like the Quintic Ball Roll or Capto and measure the difference of the two in two identical heads.

I also have a stepped steel shaft (I actually think they look cooler than stepless shafts). There's a small difference in feel from the stepless shaft, but I can't really pinpoint what the difference in feel is.

Anyway, the reason why I decided to get the Stability shaft is the numbers that it's showing with regards to the twisting thru impact being less than any other shaft. MGS did a study with the Stability shaft versus a regular shaft. I don't know how many attempts were made with each putter shaft from 5, 10 and 20 feet. My guess is that they took 50 attempts each from each distance. MGS seemed to discount the importance because the non-stability shaft had 3 less putts from 20-feet. And I think they discounted the fewer putts the stability shaft had from 5 and 10 -feet as being unimportant.

But, if you know the statistics behind the putting make %'s from 5, 10 and 20 feet...the improvement the stability shaft had on 5 and 10 foot putts was statistically significant and the 3 more putts it had from 20-feet was statistically insignificant.

Of course, this was tested between several golfers and there's always the chance that it may not be for me and my putting stroke. But the Quintic Ball Roll data shows that the technology at least works in terms for putter twist. I'm not exactly thrilled about the price point, but if the MGS data holds true with myself, I'll be satisfied with the purchase.

Technology does help undoubtedly, in my case the Garsen Max grips killed the yips however my putting improved a lot when I went to a custom made Bullseye Flange style of putter with no alignment marks which is the ironic part. So, now that I ordered another putter, I'm very tempted to get a Stability shaft. Greens in my course are not that big but I might have 20 ft puts that I'll be very happy to hole more often.

Now... not sure if those tests and statistics were made with straight putts as in the course greens can be undulated, tilted and some times with a less than perfect surface which at the end of the day will affect putting as well. A bit thinking as a devil's advocate...
