Check out Dunes West in Mt Pleasant (www.golfduneswest.com) $72 before noon, $42 after 3:00 PM, very nice course not very busy, I can always get out.

any others in the greenville area?

Someone told me the other day that Rivertowne in Charleston had cut it's rates because it was in a tight spot financially and up for sale. I think the guy I talked to said he paid $45 to play before noon. If that's true it's a very good deal. Check out Charleston National also in Mt. Pleasant. A good Reese Jones design and was under $50 last fall when I played it.

In the Greenville area check out

1-Cherokee Valley- new look, pretty good condition

2-Verdae Greens- hosted a Nike tour event back in the 90s

best bang for your buck in the area

Any of the Cliffs courses are a must also (little on the expensive side though)

River Falls Plantation in Duncan SC. It's a Gary Player signature course. Very nice.

Woodfin Ridge I think in Inman is pretty good, Willow Creek is in Greer, Crowfield Plantation in Charleston (actually Goose Creek) was nice last time I was there.

edit: i guess i should read better. If you're looking for cheaper green fees, then look for Verdae, Furman, Cherokee Valley, or perhaps Bonnie Brae.



I don't live in Greenville anymore, but when i did the following courses were solid:

Verdae Green
Green Valley (private)
Thornblade (private)
Furman University
Pebble Creek (private)
Greenville CC (private)

If you can get your pro to help you out, i would try to play Thornblade and Greenville CC. After that, i'd shoot for Verdae Green and then Green Valley. Pebble Creek isn't bad either. Furman would be my last choice, but is a decent course if i recall correctly.


Charleston:

Dunes Courses
Isle of Palms
Daniel Island

I'm doing spring training with my team at Verdae. It looks to be pretty nice and not too expensive.

I went there last year and played River Falls and Willow Creek. Both Great courses for the money! Can't wait to go back.
