ping people

Ping charges quite a bit, I checked this a year ago and it was like the cost of the shaft, the grip, and install cost of ~ $20/club. In the end it was much cheaper for me to do it myself. I bought some s400s cushion off of fleabay, installed them in my eye 2s and could not be happier. Of course I have about 4 strips of lead tape to weigh them down (stock C9 SW).

dont want to count my eggs before they have hatched but,,,,, i may be acquiring a set of eye 2 in very nice shape. they are great but i do need to either plug the ends to add length (which i hate plugging) or reshaft them myself with something. :crazy: or is it worth it to send them back to ping and have zz65's put in them for a price which i do not know? what would be the going rate per club? what would you ping people do to a set of irons you have always loved and now may be getting them?

it will cost aroung 30.00 per club with a new grip.the zz lite or zz65 were designed for the eye 2.if you are going to play them for a have ping reshaft them.they can solft or hard step them.they will als check the lofts and lies if you ask them to.

Were my Pings needing reshafting... no one... no one other than Ping would do the job. Over the years I've just seen too many sets of Pings virtually ruined by hobbyists and, so called, club builders. If Ping does the work, I know it is done correctly. The clubs will come back looking like new. The work Ping does to the clubs will be recorded in their data base with the serial number. You can have the work done cheaper locally. Just keep in mind, you usually pay for what you get!

Also, as you extend the shaft length of a club, you usually need to change the lie angle. Let's say I'm 5'8" and have a set of clubs that the lie angle fits me. If I extend the shafts an inch, to keep the same set up, I must slide the clubhead farther from me. This pulls the toe up and I need to flatten the lie angle. Conversely, if I am 6'5" I must stoop over to play a standard length shaft the proper distance from my toes. If I extend the shaft, so I can stand more upright, to leave the clubhead the same distance from my toes now tips the toe down. I need to bend the clubs slightly more upright. Did I thoroughly confuse you??? Ping will adjust lies on most all but their oldest clubs. If you need the lies adjsuted, the time to have it done is when you have them reshafted. If the Pings are of a material or age that Ping will not bend them... it won't do you any good to have them reshafted if they will then be too flat or too upright.
