Nike Tour vs. Nike Tour D

Not the same as regular and X?

Most premium balls market toward the regular, and high swing speed crowd. Z-Star and Z-Star X. ProV and ProvX. Callaway Tour i and Tour ix. I've always seen these sold as "The regular model is for normal swing speeds or normal tour swing speeds, where the x model is higher compression for better play at higher swing speeds."

However, if I follow correctly that isn't the way the Tour and the Tour D are marketed. Instead, the D is simply a "distance" version of the Tour? Am I right here?

I've seen deals of these for 2 for 60 and was thinking about trying it. Tiger uses the regular Tour I think

You are correct in that you cannot compare the Tour and Tour D in the same way you can other OEM balls. The Tour is actually higher compression that the Tour D, and the Tour is 4 piece vs. 3 piece in the Tour D. The tour spins more on short game shots and the Tour D is longer off the tee. The Tour feels a little softer, but not much.I have played both and love both. I think you should try them both and see which one you like best. Its very close for me, but I'm using the tour d right now bc I would like a little less spin.

How does the distance of the regular Tour compare to the Pro V1 and V1x?

I am going to get the 2 for $30 deal, but if I don't like the Tour D, I don't want to be stuck with 11 balls I'm not going to use.

i love the tour D just started playing them they are realy long off the tee and i think they play well around the green

I agree, I was always a Titleist guy until this year when I tried the Tour series. They seem much better than the previous Nike One series which I did not like at all. The thing I like most is they are much more durable than the ProV's. I hit the Tour D because I get plenty of spin without losing any distance. I also like the cost when compared to the ProV's!

Agreed, i've just been toying around with the Nike One Tour and i have to say...pleasantly surprised.

Out here in Oz they're still around the $65 per doz mark, but i'm more than comfortable with this ball as a comparison to the ProV1 i've been playing for the better part of 6 years.
