Picking a school

Just wondering what you guys would do in this situation... Would you rather take a full ride to a D1 school around 120-170 in the rankings or about a half scholarship to a top 60 program. Both schools are in colder climates and the top 60 program has state of the art indoor facilities and a somewhat new golf course.

What are your goals?

I would tend to go with the full ride...

Is the only advantage because they have a great indoor facility? A newer course? Better ranking?

I think the key is that you are going to be playing all the time, and if you can it for free, all the better!

I would think being able to play full time at the lower school would be better. and its free.
Check your financial situation. I'd go with the ride and dominate the team being able to play all the time.

My situation this year was either a top 3 program for low scholarship, several top 30 programs for larger scholarship(all top-tier academic schools as well) and a school ranked in the 140s in cold climate but the highest it can get academics wise.
Its not an easy decision but consider all options.

go where you are going to play the most.

I agree with the post above, go somewhere you will play the most. Also, you are not picking a school you are picking the coach. Because I dont care how good the school is or the facilities, if the coach is a d!ck you will have to spend four years with him

I was in the same situation with baseball when I graduated high school. Was I to go D1 on a very small scholarship where they had great facilities and everything anyone could want or go play at one of the best junior colleges and try to get better. The week before I signed I hurt my arm and my college dream went down the drain. But anyway I would go to where it will benifit you in the long run. Someone that will get you to the top and help improve your game. Trust me you want to have a nice coach because those guys can be friendly to your face but when they get you signed and at the college they can turn a full 180* trust me I know because one of my good friend signed with the same college I was going to and the coach was bad news. So do what ever is best for you. I would say go where you can play and improve.

unless you have aspirations of making a living out of golf, go for the best education...that will help in the long run

If you're still going to get a ton of playing time, I would go for the better program with the better practice facilities. It will encourage you to continue getting better, you'll push yourself more, and you'll compete against better players (in all likelihood), all of these factors will make you a better player.

You don't want to put yourself in a tough financial situation, but 50% is a lot for a freshman on a golf team at a solid program. You could also theoretically get a little more down the line. I would go for the better program.
