Pinnacle Dimension Review

This is a Really Good Ball!!! Straight, Long, Soft, Cheap
I'm around a 3 handicap and have been playing different balls lately to see how the new offerings in the cheaper price ranges stack up. I typically play the ProV1X as my gamer in the summer and something softer like the Z-Star in the cooler months. The Pinnacle Dimensions caught my eye at the pro shop for $5 for a sleeve of 4.

First thing I noticed was a higher ball flight. The first drive went noticably higher than my typical ball flight. Off the driver, this ball is very straight! I was able to control it with ease and soon I gained a bit of confidence with it. In the wind, the ball held up surprisingly well. I wouldn't hesitate playing it in the wind. Distance was pretty good, albeit not ProV1X good, but it was only 5-6 yards behind it with my 105mph swing speed.

Next thing I noticed was a higher, straighter flight off the irons. My typical shot is a draw, which can turn into a hook if I get sloppy. This ball definitely drew less than the ProV1X on the same shots. On some days, this could pay dividends.

Spin was very adequate as I was able to hold greens with no problems. I generate a fair amount of spin with any golf ball. A full wedge for me typically backs up a fair amount with a ProV1X. The Pinnacle would release about 2-6 feet from it's pitch mark - not bad at all for a lower spinning, straight ball.

Chipping and pitching was just fine. The ball feels soft. Much softer than any other Pinnacle I've ever played. Spin on short shots was adequate. I short sided myself on a par 3 and hit a lob wedge up the hill and parked it with a 1 hop and stop. This shot was about a 15 yard shot. Pretty impressive spin actually. I could not have done too much better with my gamer.

I wanted to add that I played this ball again yesterday in the money game and shot a -2 under (33) for 9 holes. I had already played 18 when we started the money group so I just played another 9.

Very good ball for the money. I can spin this ball just fine. On #9 I had a 70 yard pitch into the breeze and spun the ball back 15 feet.

Played it for the first time this morning since I was out of prov1x balls. I feared it would feel like a bullet, like some other pinnacles do.

But this bal is amazing, specially for it's price.

Around the greens: Feels softer than the prov1x, doesn't come of hot and actually gave me more feedback than the prov1x I always play.

Full Irons: Slightly higher ball flight with the same distances. This is good since many of the cheaper balls fly longer of the short and mid irons compared to the top balls, making the spread between clubs to small.

Driver: Maybe a fraction to high for me, but in all honesty the balls landed in the usual spots.

I play around par, usually very critical about balls, can't play the z-star or bridgestones for instance, but I am seriously contemplating a switch. Specially because of the feedback on and around the green.

I don't think they are making these anymore. The only ball they are producing are the pinnacle gold's. I have no idea how the new Gold compaires to the dimension. Too bad, I guess if you can find them on the shelf you should snatch them up.

Ahh that is a shame, I tried to order some online and indeed couldn't find them. Hope they transferred some of it's technology to the gold, but fear the pinacle stone.....

You may still be able to find the pinnacle exception balls in 20 pack format from Walmart if they have any left in stock. I think they should be pretty similar to the dimension as the exception is the ball that became the dimension.
