Cleveland Hibore XL Driver

I just stopped at a Dick's Sporting Goods, not looking for anything in particular, and they had a bag of golf clubs on clearance. In the bag they had a Cleveland Hibore XL driver with a price of $80. I asked to get a price check on it, figuring that it could be marked down lower and sure enough, it rang up for $40.

I don't need another driver but I couldn't pass up a new Cleveland driver at $40 with the headcover. It's a 9.5 with a Stiff red shaft.

Any thoughts on this driver? Has anybody gamed it or still is? Was it a good deal?

Amazing deal. Longest driver I ever owned

I gamed that exact combo with great results. The only thing that could have pushed it out is my L4V. Funky sound and look, but great feel both in the swing and at impact. I could never get used to the closed face, which is the main reason I moved on.

At $40 new, that's an amazing deal. It's nice to have something else to through in the bag to mix things up.

Put an aldila or another after market shaft on it. It'll play 100 times better.

Just put mine back in the bag with the YS7+ shaft. Was bombing it Saturday afternoon!

To date, I've still hit my longest drives with that exact "off the rack" combo (9.5* XL head w/ stock Fuji Red stiff shaft)

My SF TP puts me in the fairway more often but that XL is one long head...very low spin too

Great buy!! One of the longest and hottest heads Cleveland ever made and was/is the best of of all the XL line up. I simply grew very tired of the sound...it is one of the loudest and most annoying drivers. HIt a bucket on the driving range and your ears will ring.

Wow, glad I picked this up. Thanks for all the replies. I plan on going to the driving range with it soon but the weather up here in NY has been 95 degrees plus! Once it cools down, I'll give this a try. Thanks.

Stock Red shaft is a very nice shaft and the XL head is legendary for being long, forgiving, and low spin.

For 40 bucks you got a great deal.

Great driver. The red fuji is a preatty good stock shaft. I suggest getting an earplug for your right ear. Mine rings after hitting it.

I found its only loud until you go deaf at that decibel.

Nice find! If you don't like the Hibore, let me know and I might be willing to take it off your hands.

IMO - The XL / XL Tour are the best drivers Cleveland ever built. I still own and use them both - I will put the XL Tour up against anythng out there. The XL is just a Howitzer. They look good - perform awesome - GREAT drivers.

I still have two XL Tours. One with a 63 WB and the other 73 WB. Still my longest drivers.

Best driver I've ever owned I had the 10.5 with the red shaft, sadly it was in the batch of early non conforming ones (only affected that loft I think). During the recall I moved on to other things and sold on the xls they sent me in replacement.

I still game a Hibore XL tour. Great stick if you like open faced drivers. Good find!!
