Callaway uPro Questions

Recommended Posts

I am setting up a new uPro and have a question for uPro users. I have all of my courses loaded and everything seems ok.

1. Sleep Mode - My uPro screen goes dark after about 30 seconds which I assum is sleep mode. Can you turn this off? I wanted to try the uPro because I have to hit buttons too many times on my Golf Guru.

2. Backlight - I set the backlighting on 100% and press "enter." The only time the backlighting comes on 100% is when I go to the backlighting menu. For all other screens it comes up at a reduced setting which seems at about 50%. Whassup with that?

3. Clock - I can't get the clock set right. I have the right time offset selected but it shows at 1hr and 32 mins. off.

1. - yeah, that is "normal power save mode" - there is also low power, high power, disable, etc. It's In the menu section.

2. Check for the auto backlight option also, I think you have to turn that off too...

3. Not sure about this one... if it was 1 hour I would say it's DST issue but an hour a half is strange...

i think mine shows 11:30 whenever i turn it on in my apartment because there is no signal. i had to take it out with me to have it get a signal and adjust the time. still haven't used it on course....

I finally found the full manual on the Upro and read it on the uPro website which answered most questions. Unfortunately my uPro which is a replacement for a DOA unit I received will not get a satellite lock.

You can turn off flyovers in the Menu Settings. Is uPro better than Go? Not better, but different. uPro seems to work best if you plan to play mostly the same set of courses and would benefit from the ProMode images. I use the uPro without ProMode 99% of the time because I don't need to look down at an image when I can see it and just want to know distances to it and to clear it. The second biggest uPro advantage is that it's very small and lightweight.

Biggest downside to uPro is the cost of ProMode courses. At this point with so many options and even phone golf GPS apps with images, the ProMode courses really should be no more than 10-25 cents per download. I actually wish the uPro price hadn't fallen and that unlimited lifetime course downloads were included.

Ultimately, I think uPro and C-way's other GPS products will be undercut by better technology and cheaper pricing.

If I were buying today, I'd probably not even have C-Way GPS on my list at all. I got what I paid for and can't be disappointed, but it's proven to lose far more value and technical leadership in just one year so I wouldn't do it again.

Thank you Wish-I-Could-Play,

Your first hand info is appreciated!

I too probably would not use the ProMode very often but it would be a nice option to have when you need it. The downloads are pricy.on the Upro compared to the package GO plan.
