Lefty fittings

Recommended Posts

Any mid-low index lefties have any luck getting fit for irons, fairways, or drivers in the Denver metro area? I've been to cally and TM demo days and tried the Mizuno fit system briefly. I'm looking for a large selection of brands to choose from and I am leery of each and every fitter available with poor reviews from golfsmith, pga superstore, golfTec.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I buy a bunch of crap off ebay or the bst, play it and try it out and and sell it back if it doesnt work. That seems to be the only way for me to get it done. I live in a big metropolitan area and the availability of players clubs with suitable shafts (x) for a lefty is basically nothing. Maybe in Canada they have some lefty love...

As far as lie angles go, you can probably do that at any retain store, they should let you take your set in and use the tape. I had an old set of forged irons that I bent to the same lie angle and found which club I hit best and bent my set of that particular club.

Yeah, I've been doing the same with ebay and bst and I only play forged for the same reasons! Ha. MN was as close to Canada as I've lived and there is definitely a larger lefty population there. I think I may bite the bullet and hit 2-3 shops for demoing purposes and get fit if necessary/available.

I talked to the guys at Lenny's (at Parker and Havana) in late summer about doing a fitting but didn't end up doing it. They claimed that they do fittings for lefties all the time and have a wide variety of gear. That said, in looking around the store, there isn't much lefty equipment in stock, so they either keep it all in the back or they may not have been entirely truthful. A lot of people like Lenny's and have good things to say about them.

I went through the fitting process here in Indianapolis with a left-handed fitter. He has been in the business for 20 years and has a pretty good reputation. I told him the three shafts I was interested in, he bought them, and then fit them to a 6 iron head with an adapter, so we could go from one shaft to another with the same head. We did this on a launch monitor. After deciding on the head, shaft combo, then came back to get all the lies adjusted, club by club. Needless to say, this guy gets all my business from now on. These irons are just fantastic. Miura left handed set with Nippon Modus 3 stiff shafts. Absolutely love them.

Still buy stuff off ebay like all us left-handers have to do unfortunately. Good luck, I hope you find someone to fit you properly, as it has made a clear difference to my iron game.

LEFT HANDED

Titleist TSR3 with Metaflex 5H shaft (currently testing the Proxima 6 stiff shaft)
Titleist TSR2 16.5 degree fwy with Ventus Red 7 stiff shaft
Ping G430 19 and 22 degree hybrids with Ventus Blue HB 8 stiff shaft
Srixon ZX7 mkii 5-PW with Fuji Axiom 105 stiff shafts

Titleist SM9 50F, 54D, 58T wedge with Fuji Axiom 105 stiff shafts
L.A.B. MEZZ Max putter with LAGP putter shaft

Roger that. If I was in the market for Muiras I'd probably have the scratch to fly to Indy to meet the guy. Ha. Good for you, though. I feel like my irons fit me well enough, maybe a degree up or two would help on my 4 and 5 irons. Would really like to find a fitter I could trust and that had a lot to choose from. Seems like Ping, Titleist, Mizuno have the best support around here for lefties in irons and your TM and Cally gear is available, you just never find all of it at the same time, same place.

I'll likely start at Lenny's and work my way back north. The worst part of being a lefty is that the shop could be biased in the fitting in order to move stuff off the shelves.

Unfortunately, being left handed is tough in the golf world. I will say that I recently got a great deal on a ping i20 hybrid with the project x black shaft and it is fantastic. Long and straight. I like it so much that I am selling my Titleist hybrids on ebay in order to replace them with another ping i20.

Seems like we are stuck with trial and error as left handers.

I'm a lefty and a 0-1hc.......... Club shopping was usually frustrating for me, but I found a local brick/mortar store that always had a huge selection for us golfers who played from the correct side of the ball. They have a large indoor range with the modern PGA tour style launch moniors too which is nice for club testing. They also have trained staff for fittings. I'm sure Denver has a nice place like this too!!
