Clubmakers, HELP!!

I recently pulled the old reliable Titleist PT out of the closet with the intention of using it again. It is a 13* head, with a dynamic gold s-300 in it. Went to the range and everything was haywire, couldn't hit the thing straight to save my life! I wasn't having problems with my 904, but was hitting it too high, and the PT keeps it down. Anyway, went to my local clubfitter, who has done quite a bit of work for me, and asked him to check the shaft flex. Shaft tested to be a soft stiff, and I am playing x-100 shafts in my irons, and shafts in my woods that test out about 7.7-8.0. Needless to say, the shaft was a little soft for my swing. I asked him to put a x-100 shaft in the 3 wood, and he said OK. He called me the next day and told me he had a problem. The hosel on the club is a .294! A .335 won't fit. He put the shaft as far in as he could get it and plugged the bore thru. I have never heard anything like this. I don't know what to do now, this sounds like a defective club to me, but I don't think Titleist will take care of it since I had someone else do the work. Anyone have any suggestions?

He could drill it out and add weight internally . . . was the first s-300 not inserted all the way?

Somehow it was. I don't know what the deal is on this thing. I have done a lot of business with this clubmaker and he does great work, so I know he's on the up and up with the information he gave me. I will probably have him drill it and put another shaft in it.

Don't Take your chances. From my experiences, It should be impossible to put 335 tip shaft in that hosel. If he try to put it in, that means he was trying to modify the hosel.

You either have to buy .294" or bore the hosel to a 335 and use 335 tip shaft. You can ream it around 1 1/2" depth and plug the bottom w/ a wooden dowel like Tiger's did.

Good luck!

Hey, I work for a certified club maker and we kinda had the same problem. The newer titleist pt borethru model takes a special taper tip wood shaft that is very hard to come by these days. You can try to order one from Golf Smith, it won't be in there catalog or anything but they'll still probably have one.

Thanks for the input guys. I just picked up a 904F with the Pro 95 Fuji (for Titleist) in it and don't think I'll be needing the PT now. Just have to figure out what to do with it.
