Rocketbladez Tour irons - big loss in distance? Any ideas why...Help

Recently got a set of taylormade Rocketbladez Tour irons with KBS tour stiff shafts. I have played them 3 rounds and I am 15-20+ yards per club shorter. Also hitting higher, slight fades, with them. Ball flight with previous set was medium trajectory and straight or with a draw. Previous set was 710 AP2's with project x 6.0 shafts. Both sets are standard length and lies.

Any thoughts on why I am having such a dramatic loss in distance? Should I reshaft the rocketbladez with a set of PX 6.0's? Has anyone else suffered similar issues with the rocketbladez or kbs shafts?

A little about my gane...I'm a 5 handicap golfer, and my driver swingspeed is 108 and my 5 iron swingspeed is 96.

Many, many threads about this and from personal experience, yes I had similar results. KBS Tours feel fantastic, but they spin a whole lot more and feel very different from the 6.0's. I came from i5's shafted with the 6.0's and noticed the same things. Are you seeing more distance loss in the 8-PW or through all clubs, mine was more in the shorter clubs. I re-shafted with C-Tapers and found better results, but eventually got rid of the entire set and threw the C-Tapers in a set of TM MC's and haven't looked back.

Good luck and I hope that helps, but do a search and you will find more on this topic.

Go with what you know and like. Personally I like the non-flighted vs flighted, because I prefer a lower ball flight. I also have Rbladez Tours and hated KBS tours. Shaft was too soft for me and I could not consistently keep the ball low.

this...go with the PX 6.0's and it should take care of everything.

Flighted is : Hardstepped short irons for lower flight / regular 6.0s in mid irons / softstepped long irons for higher flight.
So it all depends what you are looking for in terms of ball flight.
I liked the short irons when I played PX flighted but I would loose a few shot left with my long irons. Not an issue now that I play C-Tapers S+...

But, for someone who likes a higher flight with the 3-5 irons but wanna keep the scoring irons low, PX flighted is great.

i played these irons earlier in the year and spin was the attributing factor to distance loss for me. pw-6 i lost a half a club and could noticeably see them spin - especially on shots into the green. the longer irons held the same distances - and i actually gained with the 3 iron. for reference i was playing ctaper shaft, which are on of the lowest spinning if not the lowest spinning iron shaft available through TMAG. these irons did not make the cut for me.heads are "spiny"

iagree the shafts are two different animals. i would go back to the px shafts and see if that makes a difference.

My experience as well. The KBS tour shaft spins like crazy for me too, I agree. It definitely seems like a shaft issue.

I have never had a lot of luck with the KBS Tours either though. I would try to find a launch monitor, and have them shaft up a RB Tour head with a Project X shaft, and compare it to your own. If that makes a change than I would reshaft one to compare results outdoors. If not ditch the Tours, and go back the AP2's. I just went through the same selection process and ended up right back at the AP2's as Swanry said the Tour's just seemed to spin a bit much in the lower irons.

Having been a long time TM iron player, 2009 TP irons with PX 5.5 non flighted shafts, I have recently purchased a set of Rocketbladez Tour with KBS stiff shafts. Although I prefer Rifle shaft's lower ball flight, and I do hit the KBS shafts higher, I have not seen any loss of distance. In fact, for me it's the opposite: I'm hitting the short irons a half club further and the long irons one club further.

My first few range sessions tho didn't go well though. I hit them more inconsistently than my current irons and was question in my shaft choice. I decided to take them to my local teacher and he advised that the RB tours were stock more upright than my clubs were. After checking the RB Tours they were WAY upright, like almost 3 up. After adjusting them I am getting better flight and distance.

Good luck with your shaft change, hope it works!
