I would venture a guess to say that the FGP had some custom grinding done on the back edge to round it off or remove weight. No way the sole is worn to the point that letters are being rubbed off.

That is my thinking too. Not sure how it got that way though as I picked it up in this condition. Doesn't look worn down, it's almost like the casting/engraving/stamping just didn't hit flush on that end.

Here are requested shots of the scratch and the toe hang (4:00) for the Whitlam G2 Joe
I tried to catch the scratch in the light that makes it look as bad as possible.
Also, it looks like there is a small ding on the bumper. Never noticed this until I looked at these close up photos.
