Portland Hotel Recommendation

Have a trip to Willamette Valley coming up next month and need to book a place to stay in Portland the day before I fly home to the East Coast. Any recommendations of a place with plenty to do nearby? I'll be there most of day, so would like to explore a bit if I can. Thanks a bunch!

Really depends on what you're looking to do while in town, as that'd dictate the best place to stay. The Columbia Gorge is just east of Portland and is always a tourism hotspot with lots to see (Multnomah Falls, Old Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway, Bonneville Dam, etc). If that's up your alley, some place like the Aloft Hotel by the Portland airport would be convenient to both the Gorge and the airport, and has a number of restaurants across the street.

Somewhere downtown, or at least not too far away from the airport. Restaurants are always key, but any other fun stuff/things to see. I doubt I'll be venturing out of town that day. Thanks for the start!

If you are looking for downtown and something swaggy, The Hotel Monaco is nice. They will even let you have a goldfish in your room for company

Inn at Northrop Station. The downtown area has “sights”, but very few would actually want to see them. The NW 23rd area remains interesting and the restaurant selection is excellent.

Recommended activities are the Japanese Garden and the Rose Test Garden, both of which are a moderate walk. You can also take the Max light rail to PDX easily from anywhere in the area.

Jupiter Next, best part of the city IMO to find really authentic things to do. Downtown Portland is sleepy these days.

While in Portland, get some sliders from Canard, and enjoy dinner at Can Font.

Airport is like 20-30 minutes from downtown or anything good really imo. I can't recommend anywhere good to stay as I stay with friend but I can recommend Ken's Pizza or Cibo for dinner! Both are top notch! Plenty of other good places to eat as well!

I was looking up some of the breweries that have been recommended to me in Portland, and several are right in that area, so Jupiter Next might be the winner. Thanks!
