Ughhh golf can be so frustrating...

First let me say I am not much more than an average golfer right now. But,....... I play in a league on Thursdays and its nine holes. First week I shoot a 51, second week I shoot a 47, things are starting to look better right........ well today I throw a stinkin 58 up. How do you shoot 11 shots worse? Golf is great and I love it. But man it can be frustrating sometimes!!!

It happens to all of us. 2 Weeks ago I shot an 85 from the blues at a top 10 course in MD, now I am unable to hit ANY decent shot. This stuff happens, eventually you find your way out of it.

The best thing to do is learn to make "faxon pars". If you can get up and down and stay in bounds (notice I didn't say hit the ball well), your scores will become a lot more consistent.

Second that. Make par from anywhere and you'll be shooting low scores right away...work on your chipping and putting and things will definitely come around.

Don't forget about staying in bounds ;) By that I mean if you're having a terrible ball striking day, play your predominant miss and don't bust out the driver 14 times. You can hit 2 bad drives on one hole and be on your 3rd stroke and STILL have two long shots to a par 5. Not a good way to start a hole if you're already having a bad ball striking day.

Yah when your hitting the ball all over the lot, the wedge and putter have to be your friend. My scores have been all over the place for the last year and the bad days make me wonder why I play this crazy game. For me it just takes one of good days to get hooked again, but Mr. Hyde always returns. Golf, she is a fickle mistress

hahaha the worst is when it happens during the same round. For example I start my day yesterday with a solid 9 on the opening par 4.

 

How does that happen you ask, well here you go. First pull hook two 3-woods OB of the tee so now I am hitting 5 from the tee. Second I finally wise up and hit driver which I blast into middle of the fairway(while thinking why didnt I just do that from the start). Third push a wedge high and right to clip a branch on a tree and short side my self to a tucked pin, finally chip on and 2 putt for a 9 :russian_roulette: :russian_roulette: :russian_roulette:

That was followed by another 3 strokes lost to penalty's on the front for a smooth 49. I get my game back and shoot 38 on the back to redeem myself and still didnt make a damn birdie all day.

The course I play on is Sugarwood in Lavalette, WV. Sorry, I have no video. There are alot of trees on that course on the right side of the holes and it seemed like I played from under them alot.

Maybe the other guys in your group are just that much better then you :cheesy: . Which could be causing you to play bad. Mabye you need to learn how to play better under pressure. :D
