I received an email today stating the course is open and all of the work they did over the winter. Question for those in the know - with the state ordered shut down of the school - are there any implications for the course?

Huge allegations of long term abuse by the staff that was neglected and covered up. I work at another facility in the state. It's not good right now...

They just laid off school staff and the boys were removed.

Not to thread jack, but when I did my Master's at Wilm U, we went there one night for class. I thought this was a great idea. Sad to see the place closing, it seemed liked it was a good place for those boys (sans the abuse).

That being said, all the grounds work was done by the boys as part of the program there. If they have to bring in outside help, it's certainly going to cause the price to go up...I would think.

Agree was a good idea in theory if only there wasn’t so much violence. Can’t speculate on details but just sucks that the place couldn’t get righted.

From a golf perspective, it’s been one of the top public courses in PA every year. Maybe a little target-golfey to me but a good track. Always tried to get out once or twice per year to see it (beautifully maintained) and support the cause with the students working it.

As for cost, if they do have to hire full staff, I’d imagine an extra $20-30 would make it tough for most to go often. Maybe more of a destination once a year but I doubt people will be driving out there (immediate locals excluded) a lot to drop over $100.

From reading the articles there were 2 instances. If there were 2 that were caught, there had to be more. Granted that's a tough school to work at and while I don't condone the violence, I could see why it would happen.

It's a great track and I plan on heading up there Easter Monday (so I'll will post back a review). Greens Fees are $60 and $70 right now but during the summer I think it's 100+ so add 20-30 and as you said, its a now a destination course. If I lived around there I would probably play it 1-2x a year...maybe.
