Mizuno Irons from 6 years ago

My clubs were stolen recently so I've been testing out irons over the past few days. My homeowners insurance will not cover the cost of the clubs so I'm on a budget. I came across a nice set of Mizuno MP54 with KBS Tour V 110 shafts. My numbers with a 5 iron - 118.4 BS, 3500 spin, 180 carry, push/pull 1*, 619 sidespin, 40.3 descent, 28 peak,

Has anyone played these clubs or still have them in the bag. IMO the looks are OK but for $240 i feel like I cant go wrong.

Any thoughts or advice?

MP-54s are great clubs. I dont think you can go wrong. I replaced my set with MP-64s, another classic from that time period.

I play 11 year old Mizuno MP-62s that I purchased new and have no issues. I've replaced everything else in my bag at least once since then except the irons, which haven't given me a reason to. I'd just be mindful of the condition of the face...if it's in rough shape, I'd personally look elsewhere. If in good condition, have no fear!

Good clubs but those numbers are not ideal TBH. Try to find a set with S300 your height, spin, and descent may go up a bit.

Thanks - What is better about the S300 for my swing? I got these numbers from hitting off a mat. I wonder if the mat made the spin go down?

MP-54s are great clubs. I won't ever sell mine. Not familiar with KBS shafts, I've only played dg s300.

Well I obviously haven't seen you swing, but even though the DGS300 is marketed as a low launch/spin shaft it really does quite the opposite for many. I find it to be a shaft I can use in almost any club and get good numbers with. For me personally, I got more height, spin and descent out of the S300 than I did the Tour V. YMMV but many fitters find DG to spin quite a bit. There's a reason it's used as the stock shaft in so many clubs. They discuss in the below video:

The mp 52/53/54 62/63/64 family are still great.Currently im with 63s. Rarely do you see a family like this where they are all Excellent.Lie angle and shaft change to suit then game them.Cheers
