Dynamic gold SL taper to Parallel

Hi everyone

 

I currently play dynamic gold sl s300 tapers soft stepped once (like them a lot)

and am looking to make a similar set for travel. I have read before that they are “different animals” so what would tip trims (amount) look like on the parallels to play similar to my soft stepped tapers?

If I understand it, your goal is to create a set of .370 SL s300 to play similar to the soft stepped tapers, then tip the 3 iron half an inch, the 4 iron 1 inch, 5 iron 1.5 inches, etc.

Thanks so that would mean the tapers and parallel are not different in the tips as you are suggesting trimming one club less. I wasn’t sure if their lower frequency gives the parallels an already softer tip

Why not just continue to use the tapered version?

This is mission impossible.

 

DGSL and DG is NOT the same shafts to start with, and now we try to make a Descending weight shaft to play like a constant wgt shaft.

 

Flex slope of DG descending is 4 CPM between clubs, and DG constant about 5.

The nature of Descending wgt is "flighted", so when we alter tip trim from 4/8 to 5/8 between clubs to make a slope of 5 CPM on the descending wgt shafts, they will indeed be flighted, so there is no way we can make flex the same and flight pattern the same, we can get one (maybe butt CPM), but not the other (flight pattern).

 

PS DG SL Descending wgt plays stiffer than DG SL Tapers, so if you want to go DG SL, use 1 flex stronger (DG SL X flex TAPERS), and soft step them 1x, thats the closest you can get, now with a little more than 20 grams wgt difference.

it will still be 2 different clubs and shafts, but thats how we can move from DG to DG SL, we cant introduce parallels to it, then we will make everything different, even if target was to make them "equal", that cant be done here.

 

If the head you got at hand is .370 and thats why you ask about Parallel's, use SHIMs

The SL 300 has been discontinued by True Temper, can you even still get them? I know they made a parallel version but only every saw the tapers for sale.

thanks guys...yes they are discontinued but can still get SL parallels on ebay for a great price but only .370.

THe .355 are rare finds as pulls (which would be my first option for sure)
