Get ready for YOUR NEW BALL!!!
Not sure what THEY did but this 2012 model of the Bridgestone Tour 330 RX-S !!!!!

Very First Round....... Two under par(-2) 70 on home course where best round was even and not many rounds in the 70's....slope isn't overly tough(132 from blues at 6700) but a premium placed on precision and not raw length(my kind of golf!!)

For reference,I normally play a derivative of prov1x; currently 2009 with 2005 being the best ever model...

Most low compression balls don't spin enough around the greens....NXT Tour, RX, TF Gamer, etc.etc...... So I stay with tour calibre balls for this factor alone....some tour balls also don't spin enough around the greens; One Tour D, B330,TP Red LDP,etc.etc..... Again for my paltry 93-98mph driver swing..

The Manufacturers have tried for years to fill the gap for Players without Tour speed but need Tour performance into and around the greens.

I've tried any and all balls in an effort to find the right one for me......ENTER the SANDMAN....oops, wrong forum

ENTER the B'Stone Tour B330 RX-S 2012!!!!! Phenomenal spin(prov1 like) high durability(no nicks, cuts or errors)To me soft without being mushy..... :ok:

I'd imagine the entire line has improved ad caters to ALL types of players.Do yourselves a favor and try the appropriate 330 2012 ball......You too could be making a switch!!!! :beach: :good: :drag:

Finally someone brings up the changes in the 330 RX. Don't know what happened to the ball architecture, but it is definitely longer now. Gamed it with my paltry 82 - 85 mph, 71 year old swing and picked up 1/2 to full club with irons and 8 to 10 yards with the driver. It is a much better ball for the real "normal" swing speeds. Still not hop & stop - more like hop, hop and roll 2-3 feet. I can live with that. Just wish I could still hit the da@m ball 240.

Q-Star is just as good and is about $15 cheaper then the ball your playing. The 330 RX is a great ball, I've played it as well, but the Q-star is also a great fit for someone with a swing speed in the 90-100 range and much cheaper. The other day I spun a choked down 60 degree from 70 yards out back 8 feet from a level green. It's also very durable without coming off hard off the putter, again, a great ball....Q-STAR!!!

Recently bought a dozen of the RX-S. My swing speed and results are nearly identical to the OP's. I had tried the RX a few years back, and just did not like it. I didn't think it went that far, and it was sub-par around the greens. The RX-S spins much more around the greens, and is a true premium ball. Massively better ball than the Q-Star. The ball goes a long way as well, but what I have noticed is that my slight miss-hits with the driver get much better results than they do with higher compression balls. I'm very anxious to tryout the Srixon Z-Star SL. I like the Z-Star quite a bit, and the SL looks to be designed to compete with the RX-S.

  • 4 weeks later...

I too am a sub 100 MPH swinger these days.

The 3 balls I have tried this spring were the new RX-S, Srixon SL and Cally Chrome. Srixon SL feels the softest, slightly more so than the RX-S. SL and RX-S spin a little more than the chrome but not greatly so. Both the Chrome and the RX-S are great in the wind. For me I think the Chrome is the longest, feels a little firmer, doesn't spin as much but still stops quick...slightly more forgiving (straighter) probably spin related.

All three of these balls I would play interchangeably. Srixon SL feels the best off the putter, Chrome longest, RX-S between the two feel wise.

Unscientific view from a 45 year old 8 index.
