What are you playing now?

What are you looking to improve on that your current set is not providing?

What exactly are you looking for in a blade/cavity back?

What brands have you used and may be partial to?

This might help everyone get a better idea for what you're looking for and also lead you to perhaps the correct path. It would be easy to just tell you that the 3 clubs you listed are great and work, but would it work for you and satisfy your needs is the question.:busted_cop:

I have been playing a set of Hogan Apexs that I got in high school. They are about 16 years old. My dad doesnt play much anymore so I use his ping eye blades once in a while as well. I hit a six Iron with the Pings about 160 yards. Im not a real good low Iron hitter Ive got a little five wood that I play more than the 2 or 3 iron. I just want something that is forgiving and that I can get better with and not worry about replacing them in a year or so of a lot of golf. Thanks again, hopefully I cleard things up a bit.

If your looking for a club you can "play" into imho I don't think getting a set that is ultra forgiving is the answer. Like pitbull said, it is a matter of preference. Do you want to be able to work the ball or just blast it straight? Do you want your clubs to test and improve your skill or are you satisfied with your mechanics? All the companies you listed make good products in both catagories- game imoprovement or players clubs.

When I bought my last set of irons (miz mp30's) I was looking for a club with more feedback that would stretch my current skill level. I was playing pingI3 Osize and felt like I was getting away with too much. Fat shots, toes, heels, they all felt the same and flew fairly consistent distances. With the 30's I can't get away with much, and as a result my focus had improved and my mechanics have grown accordingly. In my experience I would keep the jump from forgiving to less forgiving small, and be prepared for some tough, rewarding work to learn the new set. I'm not sure where its located on the web, but Roger Maltby lists clubs by there playing charicteristics and rates them from ultra-forgiving to classic forged blade. Good luck, happy hunting...

Okay....as for something you can grow with, I'd go with the G2's. They'll be forgiving and offer a long "lifespan" for you. Unless you get caught up in the equipment bug that a lot of us suffer from.

Have you ever thought of getting a set of Callaway X-14's. Still a great set, forgiving and can be had without breaking the bank. I think Annika is still using them too. Easy to work, straight and forgiving and long too. Just a thought. :busted_cop:

sling shots are the most forgiving but i would proberly go with the G2's.

i would reccomend you getting a demo off each iron and taking it to a driving range before you make up your mind.

yeah, definately by looks the g2's are better than the slingshots. Once you get better, you won't want to look down at a brick on a stick like the slingshots

Thanks you guys, I went to a pro shop and took the Mizuno MP32,MX23 and Ping G2s in six Irons. Im sold on the G2s! I really liked the MP32 and if I could play a 100 days a year and really learn them that is definitely the route I would go. But I had plenty of feel and control in the Pings and hit them more consistently and about 20 yards farther averaging 180+ consistently which is solid for me. I was told that the MP32 would not be as forgiving but I have been playing the Apexs for so long I thought Mizzys were a piece of cake for a blade, very forgiving I thought. The MX 23 and I didnt get along I just didnt think they performed like the other two. Im a flyfishing guide here in Montana and take Steve Jones and Gary McCord fishing alot so I talked Steve into a some Iron lessons when he gets back in town. Ill let you know if he thinks the clubs have improved me or not. Once again thanks for the advice. :busted_cop:

I would vote for the Nike NDS over the slingshots. They are also a very forgiving club, but they are priced lower, and more versitile. You will be able to take advantage of them now, and as you grow use them to help you then.

The NDS Irons are my current iron. The only issue is the shaft, which works well for a smooth swing, or a slower swing. A super fast swing, or a quick transition may over power the shaft. But the heads are SOLID!!

Nike T130
