this picture is perfect to show exactly how the course was set up so that any ball that wasn't hit perfectly to check up, would run out and get caught up in some pretty nasty rough. This is my ball after my tee shot on the par 3, 12th hole. It played into the wind and I believe was about 185 to back pin. I am less than 6 feet from the green and the first 2 feet around all the greens had rough to penalize a less than perfect approach shot.

The more I see pics of the North, the more I'm starting to realize that its such a nice looking track. It gets overshadowed by the South too often. I'll be out there next month and definitely plan on trying the north out.

Stu, the course is a great course for a golfer looking to experience the sights offered as well play a course that, at any length, can provide both enjoyment and a challenge. Most people think that the North course is a bomb and gouge course but in reality, bomb and gouge only works if you hit a bomb straight off the tee. Any wayward drives automatically require an accurate follow up shot to give any realistic chance of making a birdie or eagle with putter.

The front 9 is great since there are several holes along the cliffs or views of the Pacific. Back 9 is alright but kind of boring. Majority of the locals Ive talked to say they prefer North.

We actually got pretty lucky with the weather. Monday was pretty much the one day in the past week or so that there wasn't any fog, at least not enough for a delay. My wife works just down the street from the course at UCSD and she sent me a picture this morning of some pretty thick fog.

Love this! I'm trying to take a half day at work next Friday and get out and play. Hopefully they will have cut back some of the rough by then.

Any SD locals know the best time to call in order to get a tee time for next Friday the 7th? I'm thinking about calling the hotline on the 31st in order to secure a tee time a week in advance. That should work right?
