The Search for the Perfect Putter

Okay so I've been on the perfect putter search recently. I bought a Scotty Cameron Titleist bullseye putter. AWESOME weight and feel. Soft + heavy putter and I love the look of no offset. I also bought a Wilson 8802. AWESOME looking putter. Feel isn't quite what I prefer and it feels much lighter than the Scotty. I'm not a big fan of the offset, either. Besides the offset, I prefer the look of the 8802 at address.

Can any of you think of the 8802 style putter head with soft feel like a Scotty, no offset, and heavier weight head?

i think cameron have a american classic III series , bulleye with heavy flange. thats the closest one i know

The no offset 8802-sytle is a challenge. The OMG5 (IMG5 tribute) (the "G" is for goose neck) has offset and isn't heavy enough.

 

If price is not a factor, go for a handmade and get exactly what you want. They're pretty pricey in this style but the no offset makes the neck a bit easier. But still a demanding challenge to shape the back line correctly.

 

Either Byron and Geo would be good people to speak with, for sure.

how much would a custome byron putter be for something like what i want? im a lefty so that makes it even harder for retail...

i found what i want. except they dont make it in lefty. scotty cameron American classic blade w/ (NOT heavy) flange. ill send a pm to those two you suggested to see what they have/can do for me. if anyone can think of the american classic blade w/ flange style made by anyone else in lefty, please tell me! thanks guys!

The Wilson Tour Special II putter is an 8802 styled putter with no offset. It is a light putter but lead tape on the sole will take care of that.

Wow, another non-offset heel-shafted blade fan! For lefty, this might be impossible to find. It is rare as it is. Well, I can't help much, but for righty, there is the Titleist Tour Model Heel Shafted Original and the Wilson Tour Special II Forged as mentioned. Maybe these can give you ideas on your custom putter.

Get a Tour Special II and send it to George. Have him weld on additional material or add tungsten plugs to get the weight up, mill the face, then plate in something cool like copper. That will get the weight up.

 

The hosel post can be turned to accept the SC-YHSF tapered tip shaft on the Cameron putters. That will return the soft feel.

this seems like a good idea. however, im lefty and i dont believe that model is made for lefties. maybe ill have him do something like this to a cameron bullseye of some sort.
