Anyone played with a Caddytrek?

Not exactly new technology, I played with something like it in the '70's. But this one can easily fold up and fit in your trunk.

 

You have a transmitter on your belt and it follows you around the course.

I have decided it just isn't for me.

It looks like it would be the coolest thing in the world honestly but why do I not f****** trust that thing to get my clubs safely down the hills here in upstate, SC?

I take it you don't ride or use a push/pull cart? You're walking the course and the clubs just follow you like you had a real caddy. That's not lazy and it's easier on your back than carrying.

In follow mode, it keeps a set distance behind you, the electric motors have a sort of braking mode to keep at that distance on downhills.

The thing about the Caddytrek that makes it different is the follow mode. You can also use remote mode but I'm not sure why you would.

As I said, I used a similar device back in the '70's called a "Maynard", it was at Stratton Mountain, VT. It worked well and handled the mountain course just fine, the technology has to have advanced by an order of magnitude since then. And that following cart could never have been put in a trunk or even hoisted into a big SUV, too big and heavy.

Looks like a great idea. But our club doesn't allow them.....yet.

You will use the remote around the greens and tees. The follow feature is for just walking down the fairway.

Their videos show people walking through treed areas and around greens using follow mode. I think you just need to not cut in too close to the trees.

I love the idea of this thing and wondered when someone would design one that could fold up and fit in your car.

Hey Jim - been a very long time. I was in and out of the game for a good while, laid off 2 times, some major back issues from an auto accident 2 hand surgeries. But working again and just won a used Ct 2000 on Ebay, seller claimed it was only used a few times due to the seller no longer playing.

I started a thread on these last year (before the last layoff and the 2 surgeries, that I had played with a kid who had one, it was remarkable to see up close and how well it worked for the kid using it.

Anyway, do you have one? And if so, any tips? I will be taking it for a spin so to speak on or about 23 Aug - not sure where yet.
