Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 or New Pinseeker Medalist?

Looking to pull the trigger on either the Pinseeker 1500 (No Slope) or the new Medalist. Anyone try the "Medalist" yet. They are very close in price on ebay, within $30 and not sure wether the Pinseeker 1500 specs is worth a $30 difference....

 

Differences:

 

Pinseeker 1500 - 7X magnification, weather proof (not quite sure to what extent), a little further yardage reading (not sure I need to see the pin from 400 yards).

 

Medalist - lighter by 3 oz, not weather proof, 4X magnification, newer technology???.

 

 

I have read the reviews but I am wondering if someone has used the Medalist for a quick comparison. I have never used the Pinseeker so I am working with little actual knowledge of the products. Opinions on wether to spend the extra $30 for the 1500...

The 7X versus 4X magnification difference is significant! If you don't spend the extra $30 for the Pinseeker 1500 all you will do is wonder why you settled for less for a measly $30...

thanks Scott, thats pretty much what I was thinking but I'm from Canada and that $30 and $20 shipping turns into $70 Canadian... Just wasnt sure how much difference the 4x vs 7x was in respect to magnification.

If you're only using it from 150 in, there's not too much difference. However, from 200 out, you're going to see a big difference.

 

The greater the magnification, the easier it is to zero in on a small target such as a flag or the trunk of a tree from a greater distance. You may be able to do it with lower magnification, but it will require a steady hand.

 

The other thing to consider is the targeting reticle. Again, a smaller reticle makes it easy to pick a target, so a dot is better than a small circle with rangefinders.

 

So if you're between two models, go with the one with the highest magnification and the smallest targeting reticle.

 

For $30 more, go with the 1500.

FWIW, I love my 1500.

 

A lot of people will say "What do you need to know the yardage for more then 250 out" but don't let that sway you. Laying up to a nice wedge yardage on par 5s is easy when you can use the 1500 up to 400 yards.

You're going to love your 1500.....good choice!

 

The magnification helps out a ton when zeroing in on the flag. Especially when it is windy outside.
