SoftTail vs. Newport 2

Any Opinions?

SoftTail Professional Carbon with GripMaster StitchBack

or

Newport 2 Stainless with Dancing Cameron

Any comparitive opinions on the two? Just curious.

two very different putters, it will be very difficult to compare the two.

I relize that. I have both of them but am looking to sell one to get some cash. Just seeing what people had to say about them.

I think you should game the Newport 2 and sell the Softail..............................to me! LOL!!!!!

It really is apples and oranges, but if it were me, the Nwpt 2 would be the first to go. I like Cameron's stuff, don't get me wrong. But, the Softail just has that look to it that it is going to be one solid, putt-making machine. I have owned a fair number of Nwpt 2 and just never got along with that head. Love the original Newport, but the 2.....not as much.

Just an opinion, but feel free to offer the Softail my direction, if the need arises.

Thanks for the input. I am kind of leaning towards keeping the SoftTail but if I do decide to sell it I will be sure to let you know.

I'm a Newport 2 guy. Got 5 or 6 of them. LOL I realized one way to know you are a ho is not knowing how many putters you have. LOL I don't think it's wise to ask us which one to sell. You should be able to distinguish the best one for you yourself.

i think you'll regret selling the softail if you do...theres just something about the mills putters that unique, its like its kind of raw and custom as opposed to the newport2 which jjust seems OTR...imo

Trust me, I have been trying to decide which would better fit myself. I like aspects of both putters.

They would both make good gamers but if I keep both of them, the one I don't have in the bag will just keep tempting me to switch. I would rather just have one gamer that I can rely on.

That being said, and like I said before, I have been leaning towards keeping the SoftTail and think I will, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a near mint NP 2 Stainless on the BST in the next couple of days.

I don't even remember the days when I only had the putter that I played with. It would be nice to be able to go back to just one putter, but I am afraid the sickness has made that an impossibility.

Congratulations on being able to hang out here and still be able to get back to one putter. It is a monumental feat, to say the least.

Way to go!

Thanks ... I have had many putters at one time but man is it nice just having one. I can't tell you how long it will last, as I do visit this forum frequently and am quite temped to open up the wallet from time to time.

Anyways, only time will tell

Just something to keep in mind, don't choose one or another based on what a given group of people like or decide is better. Both of those putters are terrific (albeit different) clubs, and make sure you pick the best one for YOU. I know I have been victim of popular opinion/hype in the past, especially with putters, so just choose whichever you like more.

You have a very good point. It is very important to take peoples opinions with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to golf equipment.
