Planning Innisfail WRX golf outing!! Date set June 2nd
Me and a buddy of mine, who is also on this site, Harry13, decided today was the day to hit a few balls out of my backyard to try some of the new stuff we picked up. We just can't stand living up here when you guys down south can golf pretty much all year!!! :ok: ;) We have usually about a 6-7 month winter here so being able to hit a few balls from the ole' backyard was just about perfect. I have a few pictures below of us two whackin' it by my tool shed.. :drinks: I can't wait for the rest of the snow to go. By the way it was actually quite nice here today at 6* Celcius!! Crazy die hards?? Yes.. we are....

Haha!

Funny thing with this is that I'm planning to do the exact same thing tomorrow as we were quite warm here in Edmonton these past couple days.

Except I'm planning to bring a bucket of top rocks and such to a large field and hit away so I can finally see my full ballflight again.

(Getting a bit tired of only seeing limited flight in the dome and I haven't played since December when I was in Mexico)

Can't wait! Although it's going to be atleast a month before we play here.

So it's either Kelowna or Mesquite in a few weeks or so to get a few rounds in before our season starts.

I think you're better off heading to Mesquite. I think Kelowna's temperature is still below 10*C and although the snow has stopped...the raining has started....

Yeah I know about the rain...hopeing it will die down by the time we plan to go.

We really like a bunch on the courses in around the Kelowna area (and my wife can visit with some relatives)...but if the rain continues I agree Mesquite is the way to go.

Just have to wait and see I suppose...

Let me know when it is all gone!! Actually, that is where we are coming to is Edmonton later in the spring though. I take lessons there in the spring in Late May to 1st week in June. Nice courses in that area.. I sure did like the one before the airport on the highway. Something "dunes" I think. :drinks:

You must be talking about Redtail Landing.

Great course, one of my favs as it rewards good ball striking.

Normally our season begins around the easter long weekend here.

Weather is warm now, but we had a TON of snow this year so I'd imagine it'll take some time to completely melt.

I've heard that Medicine Hat has NO snow, it's 15* there today 17* tommorow, and 17* on Monday with a low of +10* so if that continues i could see things start to move in a couple weeks there, I will be in the hat at the end of the month start of April, so i hope things are rolling by that time.

I play out of Coloniale. Been there for the last couple of years now.

Good solid course and a lot of good people to play with.

Pros are great people there as well.

Looked into a lot of places, even the private clubs, and we seem to come back to Coloniale in the end.

Things are supposed to open up here in the Hat very soon, its been like +18C for the last couple of days, we had a big wind storm here yesterday which helped dry things up alot and we had a very small amount of snow today. I've been talking to the locals and they figure last week of March on full greens. I talked to a few guys who went down to Montana and played on Sunday said the course in Shellby was in great shape and the weather was awsome. If anyone is looking to make the trip down to the hat shoot me a PM and my be we can play

I hear the courses up here in Edmonton are shooting for April 20th.

There is one course that will clear the snow off the fairway and open a couple weeks earlier...but it's a goat track and doesn't count.

That in my opinion is what Fox Hollow is as well here in Calgary. Its right along the Deerfoot and just goes up and down, up and down. Nothing exciting and when every hack in the City is out there on a weekend afternoon its a bloody shooting gallery with all the balls coming across your fairway from each side!!!!

Haven't played Fox hollow myself, but have driven by and it sure looks like a bowling ally.

I've heard March 26 should be opening day here in Medicine Hat

hbear- you must be talking about Golden West, I can rember playing there Easter weekend in past years its been awhile since I've been there but I here not much has changed

Matuch: when do you get back to Kananaskis? I am hoping to play out in that area this year

Yup Golden West...they'll open it up after they plow the fairways...

It's hilarious as they'll open even if the greens are rock hard (due to being frozen) and there's snow banks off the side of the fairway (due to the plows)....

But I suppose even goat tracks serve some purpose...

Well, it won't be long. We will be going to Alberta here pretty soon for I hear there isn't very much snow left there. :D NEED TO SWING SOME CLUBS !!

The snow is melting, but I wouldn't say there isn't much snow left.

Hello former Edmontonion! Actually, I am from St. Albert, but close enough. I must have seen you at the dome one of these times (obviously without knowing it). I go the majority of the weekends.

I like the sound of that, I am going to be down there at the end of the month for a Wedding, I looked at the weather there today and it was +20* !!!!! I wish....... I think I may head out to Redcliff for a round.

What is the best track in the Hat? Also where is the best range in town, as I'm sure I'll want to bang the rust out a bit before I go out.

I think I'm going back out there mid April, but not sure the exact date, the pro just went away for a few days so I haven't got an exact date yet.

Last year we opened May 10th...so I dunno I would assume it's around there.

Let me know when your coming out...
