Hey all,

My friends and I are planning a man trip to nashville to have a smalle college buddy reunion this Summer and a few of us wanna play a little during the trip. Any one know of any course close to downtown (we are staying in the renaissance hotel) that isn't too expensive? Also any suggestions on nightlife fun like clubs or bars or food we definitely have to go to?

Thanks everyone

Nashboro Village would or should be your course. Its near the airport and I here its playing great and its less than $50.00 to play. If you are staying in downtown, you will know where the party is at because every venue rocks and you just go with the flow. Any bar near Broadway and 4th to 2nd will fill the bill. Make sure you taste the bbq at Jacks right on broadway. If you need another course suggestion near there, then play Hermitage or Gaylord Springs for more $ but nicer courses. Have a great time and welcome to Nashville!

thanks guys! while I enjoy really nice courses, golf is secondary on this trip as only 3 of the 9 going actually play so just something to get out and drink a few while shooting the s*** would be fantastic. I will definitely go over to the BBQ place. I am originally from Kingsport, TN and I miss the BBQ up in Johnson City haha so itll be good to have some great TN bbq

I'm gonna disagree with the suggestions you have received. You asked for a course that is close to downtown and less than $50. Nashboro is barely under at $49 but is nowhere near downtown. The others mentioned are both more expensive as well as located far from downtown.

My suggestion is to play one of the Metro courses, such as McCabe. The quality of the course isn't good, but the price and location meet your criteria.

I'll disagree on Nashboro too, it's SLOOOOOWWWWW during peak season! Ted Rhodes isn't bad but if I had to pick a Metro course to play it would be Two Rivers near Opry Mills which you could also visit while you are there. Broadway has something for just about anyone. The Stage is really popular and always has good music. Jason James plays great country cover music at Paradise Park on the weekends starting around 9:30 or 10. You really can't miss down there. They don't charge cover so you just come and go as you please.

If you need a range you'll probably wanna go to Ted Rhodes. I don't think Two Rivers or McCabe have one. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. I haven't been to either in some time.

McCabe has a range now plus 27holes. In July is the city amateur, so all the courses in town will be great. As far as safe, Ted Rhodes is just as safe as Nashboro if you ask me.

Not sure if you already had your trip or not, but wanted to chime in on the courses. Nashboro is an average course to play at best. I've never had a good experience there. It has a ton of potential, but just doesn't have the funds to make it the course it could be. If you weren't looking to stay super close to Nashville... Greystone is my favorite course around Nashville. It's about 45 minutes away, but you can find crazy deals on GolfNow for this course. I've played it for $18 with a cart during the summer. It is by far a better course than the public tracks in Nashville. Whatever you do, stay away from Forrest Crossing, it's the home of the 6 hour round and the condition of the course changes way to frequently.

I have never played Two Rivers or McCabe, but Gaylord is a good track. It won't fall in the under $50 price range, but it's always nice to get on that course.

Agree with all of this. Good info and love Greystone.

I also agree with Greystone being a great course and value but it is a drive. A closer course to Nashville about a 1/2 hours drive down I-24 is Old Fort GC in Murfreesboro. Its in great condition. Many courses around here have incurred damage to the bermuda from a freeze burn that occurred in late winter/early spring. It has really decimated the bermuda on many fairways and tee boxes. Old Fort has some of it but its very minimal and they have imported sod from Alabama to place around the greens where the burning occurred. Most you can pay at Old Fort is on the weekends where it will be $32.00 to walk and around $44.00 with a cart. One of the best deals around in my opinion.

100% agree with this. Old Fort is great.

I just got back from Nashville (was there this past weekend) and we played both Hermitage courses and Gaylord Springs. President's Reserve at Hermitage was head and shoulders above Gaylord Springs. For what we paid to play Gaylord Springs, I was pretty disappointed. The course really wasn't in very good condition (especially compared to President's Reserve), it played really slow and the layout is that of a typical resort course. Overall Gaylord Springs was pretty 'blah'. I would have played President's Reserve twice before playing Gaylord Springs.

At Hermitage you are going to pay well over $50. I think in the end it was around $80, but, the course was worth that. Fun layout, in great shape, wasn't overly busy and a great day. Based on what I have heard about the other courses in the area from my buddy who recently moved down there, outside of Greystone, Hermitage is worth the up charge.

For nightlife, once you are there it's pretty self explanatory. Just go to Broadway and the surrounding streets and wander into which ever bar either has the music you like or a place to grab a table.

If you are looking for a nicer/more upscale dinner one night, we went to The Southern and all enjoyed it.
