Hello from east of Toronto

I have been a lurker since early last month. When searching golf info on google...it seems to always lead me to this forum for info. Haven't played for 5 years, then dusted off my old Ping Eye 2+ orange dot clubs and went out in May...played better than I thought I would have. Searched the forum for info on cheap used clubs for sale on kijiji in my area to upgrade my Ping Eye 2 laminated maple 1,3,5 woods (hit then well...but wanted a bit more distance and forgiveness). Now I play the r7 425 set up for slight draw, Nike Dymo2 4 wood and Nike MachSpeed 3 hybrid. Wanted to change my putter...but then practiced and am dropping lots of putts with my Titleist DeadCenter SP-301 putter. I practice almost daily...my touch around the green is the strongest part of my game. I use 4 wood, 8 iron or SW as my go to clubs to chip, or run it through the short 1st cut. Changed up my grip and stance until I found a combo that I found to be most consistent (I tried ever combo, weak, neutral, to strong, open stance, square stance, to closed stance). Settled on a grip similar to Ernie Els...left hand neutral, thumb slightly to right of center, right hand overlap so V is pointing close to right ear. Stance about shoulder width apart (bit narrower on short irons, wider on woods and driver). Square stance to target, right foot straight, left foot 45 degree turn. Ball position always 2 inches forward of center, hands infront of ball...I bring clubs from the inside and results in a push draw than puts ball along the target line where my feet are lined up. I play and practice in the Oshawa area. Any other tips would be great. Hope I can contribute too...take care.

Thx OUZO...I drive through Brooklin all the time. My daughters orthodontist is there. Just played Lyndebrook last week for the first time.

Never played there even though it's down the street. Played The Royal Ashburn GC today at Mayor Perkins (Whitby) annual tournament. That place is sweet. Tough course.

Playing Glen Cedars tomorrow.

I usually play 8/10 at Winchester GC cause my house backs right on to it so I'm really close to home if the wife calls for an emergency during play. With 4 boys under 5 I have to be close.

Winchester GC was the first course I played in 5 years that got me back interested in golf. 41 on the front, 45 on the back (2 blowup holes) was not bad for not having played in so long. The best course I ever played was Wooden Sticks. Putting the ball on the 17th island green (signature hole from Sawgrass) 4 feet for birdie when everyone else in my group (all better golfers than me) were in the water was my best golfing memory. I have kids as well....3 girls, 2 boys. Ages 10-16.

I lived in Oshawa for awhile. Worked in Port Perry. I used to play mens night at Wolf Run in Janetville: the Jewel of the north!
