Contests giveaways USA only

Hi, why is virtually every single promo, contest, giveaway... USA only?

I'm Canadian. When I click on rules link the 1st thing inevitably I see is USA only.

 

I used to think it was a manufacturer bias to preclude us foreign members, but I noticed that golfwrx is highlighting their own merchandise online store & no surprise... Click the rules & yet again... USA only.

As a guy with a camo flying tiger Putter cover from golfwrx... I just don't get it?

The funny thing is I get emails from golfwrx asking me to become a clubwrx member... To support them... But....?

This is truly a shame and most certainly deserved it's own thread, even after you posted your comment in the Rock Bottom Golf giveaway thread...

[/quote]Yeah you're right I did post previously in today's thread but I have done somewhat similar comments in the past within contest giveaways with never receiving a response.
so I thought for a change I would actually post a thread that the golfwrx mods could reply to just educate us and how these things work.

when I noticed that they're highlighting their own online store and are inviting you guys to enter from the States... but precluding Canadians that's when I finally thought enough is enough let's get an answer on why. They don't owe us anything but as a fan of the site who runs into other members even within Canada I was a bit frustrated.

Would u not expect the receiver to pay those costs? I would so I don't see how that's an issue preventing?

I'm kind of sure if I won a free golf club I could afford some added shipping & duties etc...

Still doesn't answer why truly.
In the very first link u gave... Golfwrx replies to say that they have to abide by the sponsors who often stipulate that... But in my op first comment I mention that golfwrx themselves is precluding Canadians from their online store contest.... It's them not even someone else. Anyhow.....

Larger companies may have international presence that preclude them from a legal standpoint. For others, custom charges and shipping are 2x the price of the product and dealing with the paperwork is not productive. The store giveaway should include international if people are willing to pay the customs and shipping. . But again customs and shipping will be much more than product value.

Ultimately it's the sponsors prerogative. That rules have been standardize for giveaways so probably need to be modified for the store giveaway.
