I've seen those. Seems like mostly wedges that don't resemble anything miura carries. The same goes for the irons. The 501s aren't even close to the real thing and don't even know what the other miuras are... Like I said, if you bought a miura fake, you would know.

I don't believe your blades are fake but I also question why your miuras have no ferrules on them?? To me that is more aesthetic .

 • 2 weeks later...

Just got back from half moon bay. The guy took one look at the clubs and said they had non conforming grooves. He also compared them to a 2014 tournament blade and the top line seemed a little smaller. Spin on an average 6 iron was 10000+ with non conforming grooves, carry was 163 average. With the conforming mb-001 6 iron spin was about 5500 and carry was 185 average.
Bare with me as I'm no physics major, but non conforming grooves equated to nearly 2x more spin on a 6 iron vs a conforming one?

Now that's faith.

Well there was a possibility that they were counterfeit. The stamping looked good, but they were not the same shape. He had the same spin problem as I did.

So they were fake then?
Can't go wrong with the mb001, best blade available!

"The article involved original research by Golf Digest, with equipment and technical expertise borrowed from Karsten Manufacturing. The conclusion was as Michael recollected.

Square grooves give some negligible spin increase from a dry fairway.
Square grooves give substantial spin increase from wet rough. (Spin rates increased 25%-50%.)"

I guess it is possible that they were fakes

Are you getting the mb001 from an authorized Miura dealer?

Yes, definitely getting them from an authorized dealer. I screwed up trying to go the cheap route and it ended up costing me $120(he bought the TB's off me for $900). What sold me on the mb001's, was how they looked at address and the leading edge grind. I really liked the 1957 baby blades and 1957 baby blade cavity backs. They were a little more accurate, but the top line was a little thicker and the toe was a little taller than the mb001's

I think a big part of the insane spin, was the groove and shaft combo. They had s300's that felt like r300's and the mb001's had tour issue x100's at E0 swing weight

Did your Miura dealer check lofts on the "spinny" set? I could see where 3-4* of weaker lofts could really jump the spin numbers up as well.
We didn't get that far. Since they were non-conforming, we just focused on the fitting for the new irons

I haven't seen any fakes for Miura blades - Tournament, Baby, or MB-001 in the original satin finish. There are fakes in the black finish for the TB. If you scan through Ali Express you can usually see which ones clubs have fake versions out there.

There's such a small market for Miura I doubt counterfeiters would even bother with it. No one outside hardcore golfers knows Miura even exists.

That spin rate is crazy, but if the guy bought from off you for $900 they probably were real. No one in their right mind would pay that much for a fake set especially as a Miura dealer who knows the product well.

There are quite a number of used Miura irons for sale with non-conforming grooves which will result in higher spin rates.
Look for the circle SL stamping in the iron sets, stands for score lines, which indicates conforming grooves.
The Kanji Series wedges are conforming but do not have this stamping.
