NEED YOUR HELP! STAT!

i am posed with a difficult proposition...i have finally allowed myself to give in and persue possibly using a long putter. although i have never really tried it. i have tried belly putting and i just do not like the concept personally with my ever inflating and deflating wasteline. but while the putter geek and collector has me really in a conundrum. i have been fit personally for standard putters by some of the great putter makers...so i know what specs and style fit my eye and more importantly my stroke, but i have to believe the long putters will limit your design and styles as the stroke is straight back and straight through...that being said what are some good options to look at for long putters?

 

also, i am 5'10'', seeing they come in limited sizes...im thinking 45 or 46"?!?

I have used a long putter for the last few years and I use a 48" putter and I am 5'11" tall. It is all a matter of what you are comfortable with.

I'm 6 foot. I currently use a 48 inch model Cameron Big Sur. I really is up to your

eye as far as head designs. Once you start looking for a Long putter, you will see that

there are many designs out there. Some of my Favorites are the Ping B90 (This is a solid

performing, if rather boring design that can be acquired cheaply), Cameron Futura Long (often

overlooked), Bobby Grace M14K (This can be found cheap too), Cameron Red X Long.

 

My suggestion is to get a hold of something you can practice with for a while that doesn't

cost a lot of money. These putters require a lot of time to dial in the distance putts. The

three footers are easier to get used to......

Reebus, I agree with you 100%. I started experimenting with a Ping B90 that my college golf coach had and then bought my first long putter shortly afterward since I new I would be comfortable with it.

 

Browse the used racks at your local golf stores since you can usually get a long putter for cheap that way since there is not a huge market for this type of club. I was in Golf Galaxy this morning and they had a White Hot two ball long putter for around $50.

 

I also agree that the Futura long is an under appreciated putter. I have had one in my bag for the last two years and even bought a back-up since I got a great deal on it.
