No Masters early round coverage?

Is it me or didnt TNT always have early round coverage of the Masters, I know there is internet of Amen corner but I always enjoyed the all day coverage. Maybe since the Golf Channel has the rights now they dont show it. Just wondering

I always thought that thursday and friday was USA and then on the weekend its CBS. I don't think TNT ever had it.

never been on all day thurs and fri. coverage has always sucked for this tournament. i am sure i am in the minority here but the pga tour should stand up to augusta national and threaten to take away its major status by moving the players championship to the same weekend if they continue to refuse to allow coverage. it is my favorite tournament to watch and i hardly get to watch any of it early on.

Everyone would play in the Masters over the Players. It is all about the majors. The PGA tour does not determine the majors, history does.

I agree, the coverage sucks on Thurs/Fri, but maybe with a new Masters chairman, who used to be the media chairman, there can be some discussion and things will change. There is certainly a better chance of that then the PGA Tour trying any tactics involving major status. Maybe you were kidding, but remember Augusta National is the club that laughed off the women trying to protest and even gave up huge advertising revenue to prove their point. They won't bow to the PGA Tour.

 

BTW...there is one hour of Internet coverage prior to the TV telecast that is not just Amen Corner.

As much as the coverage of the early rounds is limited and I wish there was more. Don't forget the deal they worked last year when the conclusion of the 3rd round was moved to Sunday and we ended up with a golfgasm of coverage. Sunday morning on USA and then switching over to CBS for the 4th round. In addition, to the limited commercial breaks they have as well. Though they have been slow moving in having more network coverage they are still other areas of there coverage where they surpass other tournaments.

Don't apllaud them too early. Right now it seems there will be no AMen Corner Live amd Masters Extra Live for anywhere else but the US. A major case of the yips if you ask me....biggest golf tournament on earth and the majority of golf fans around the world stares at a black screen with "This stream is not available in your area. Please select another stream to enjoy.".

I think I set my dvr to record the Masters on "Universal HD" for Thursday and Friday. Hmmmm...Hddddddd.

One of those things I never understood about the Masters. Small market PGA events get more early round coverage than the 2 hours we're getting today and tomorrow. :russian_roulette:

 

Are they allowing television coverage of the front nine this year?

I think the only way we'll start seeing changes at Augusta is by getting the big names (Tiger, Phil, Vijay, Ernie, etc) to sit out or boycott the tournament. Which will never happen.

I'm with you 100%. Why are we "not allowed" to watch full coverage of one of the greatest tournaments in the world? Just plain stupid. No justifiable reason for it. Augusta needs to pull its head out of its arse!

FYI...TNT does early round coverage of The British Open and USA has done the Masters early rounds for the last few years.

 

I would like to see the Golf Channel pick up early round coverage...you know they would have it on all day.

I don't like the amount of Thur. and Fri. coverage either. But I do like that they don't go off the air untill the last player is done and the replay at night.

This has more to do with the networks and less to do with the National.

 

There is a rumor that they are working on doing an HD PPV, On Demand type thing with full round full field coverage. Multiple channels so you can watch Amen corner, watch every shot from the lead groups, or watch highlighted coverage.

 

The one thing that seems to bug the National is other people making a buck off their party. If you notice there are very few brand names on items purchased from the gift shop at the Masters. Also there is talk of building a parking garage to try to cut into the locals renting out there lot.

 

I'd pay $175, the cost of a badge, for multi channel HD coverage no problem.

 

There is always a tough decision to be made when visiting the Masters in person, do I sit behind a green and watch the field come through or do I follow a group around the course and see every hole.

 

I'll tell ya, if I had the ability to follow ever group, then I'd take a month out of my life to do that.

 

I hate that there isn't a replay on the weekend. If your at the tournament it is great to come home and see what you missed on the replay. Imagine the great golf shots you would have missed on Sunday, thats why I stay home on Sundays. Don't get me wrong, its great to be there, but the best seat is in front of a TV.

Until this year(I think) it was always on USA Thur and Fri, and they had either just 1 or 2 commercial breaks, The Travelers Insurance Co. and ?

Sux that BSPN has 2 measley hours of it, and starting at 4:00 , why don't they just wait till midnight!

i love how last year at Bethpage Direc TV has special channels all day long. 4 channels and one channel that would follow tiger thur every shot. I wish verizon fios would have something like that for the masters but i hope the do it for the other majors.
