Best bang for buck - Houston. One day to Play! HELP!

Coming to Houston for a business trip in 3 weeks and have a day or two open to play. I am looking for a reasonably priced course that has decent conditions. I looked at Cypresswood and Wildcat. Not sure if there are better ones out there. Ideally, I would like to try and play 36 one day so any courses with good replay rates is a big bonus!

 

I get in at 9am on a Friday so hoping to tee off by 10:30 and then again at 2. Flying into IAH.

Bang for the Buck Course:
Memorial Park

Best Maintained Course:
Black Horse Golf Club

Course I Would Play:
Cypress Lakes / Cypresswood: Either are great tracks, however I would lean towards Cy Lakes.

Cypresswood (Traditions) and Woodforest are good. Woodforest is a pretty good trip up north though.

Wildcat courses are good. As much elevation change as you'll find in Houston, but there are more than a few blind shots.

Memorial is a classic. Getting a tee time can be a pain though as the lottery system is a guessing game.

Blackhorse isn't bad.

The Golf Club of Houston will be in absolutely fantastic shape considering the SHO is there next week. If you can somehow get a tee time there (maybe late afternoon), that would absolutely be worth your while.

Tour 18 in Humble should be in good shape and can be had for cheap on Golfnow.

If you're flying in to iah and up north already. I would agree with woodforest. They have 27 holes so you're replay will be a little different. Not sure of the replay rate though. Again, assuming you're staying north then cypresswood is another great choice.

What area will you be in while your here? That will go a long way to get good recommendations. Houston is quite big and spread out.

I am staying near the Gallery out West.

It is my birthday week so I found I could play for free and just pay for a cart at Cypress Lakes. Would that be a good one?

The aren't many courses close to the Gallaria area. You will need a rent car to get to any course. Memorial is the closest by tough to get on. West side has Cinco Ranch, Meadowbrook Farms,River ridge. Northwest side has Black horse north/south, Cypress lakes, Sterling country club. South is Wildcat. North is Woodlands,Cypresswood, Tour 18, Woodforest, Kingwood, Golf club of Houston. Just depends on how far you want to drive and how much you want to pay.

How is Cypress Lakes? I can play for free there being my birthday week. Thoughts?

It's been a number of years since I've played Cypress Lakes, but through most of the early 2000's, it was regarded as having the best public course greens in the city.
