confused on ball flight and lie angles
HI Gang,
I took the game of golf up again after a ten year layoff. I have been back at it for about 3 years now. One thing that I did when I first started back was get my lie angles adjusted according to hitting off a lie board. I have very low hands at address and the toe usually sticks up in the air a good ways, even when I am hitting the lie board squarely thru impact. ANyhow, I had my Pi5's bent to 3 degrees flat since that was the suggestive proper fitting. For about a 3 years now, I have fought a ball flight that has started out right and has some cut spin on it or a pull wiht cut spin. I have changed my swing on numerous occasions to fix it. But my ball flight is 99% consistantly the same time after time.
Anyhow, I just put a set of Mizuno MP-33's in the bag. I had the lie's checked when I first got em and they were standard loft and 2' upright. I wasnt playing them, but just wanted the specs checked. This week, I decided to take em to the range, and without adjusting them, I was hitting the ball dead straight or a 3 yrd draw. At address, the club was literally sitting on the heel. The toe is way way up. Well, I hit em for about an hour really well, and then took em into the shop to get them fitted. Once again, the lie board is at 3 degrees flat according to the tape on the sole. Even wiht my irons bent 3 flat, the toe is still a good ways up. After I shelled out the dough, I walked back out to the range and filled myself a bucket. Here is the thing, only 30 minutes have passed since i was just hitting some solid, accurate golf shots with the upright lie. SO, the first ball I hit wiht my new adjustments went dead right and wicked cut spin on it. The next 10 did the same thing. Next thing you know im changing my swing to try to fix it.

Here are my Questions, does this sound like a Lie angle problem? Funny things is, I could swear even now, that its the heel digging into the grass and not the toe. Is it possible if you lead/dig with the heel thru impact you could get an open face and slightly right ball flight? I know this is generally a ball flight wiht the toe dragging, but I wonder if the heel could produce it. Also should the club rest properly at address wiht just a slight toe up? Or is impact the only thing that really matters after fitting? Finally, is getting fitted indoors into a net off the lie board a bad idea. I think he shoulda gone out to the range and watch the ball flight as well as the lie board. Im confused, i have a decent swing and consistantly hit the same shots over and over. I am thinking its not my swing any longer, its the lie angles. i dont know..

If you all have had experiences with lie angles affecting your game, and what was the solution to fixing it, i would like to hear. One final question..Will the clubfitter charge me again, if after 3 days I want em bent to where my ball flight is where it should be?
YOu can get an view my address position and swing on this video. Maybe you can see a big fault that might be the problem instead of Lie angles, here is You tube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myU_KE_n_Hk

sounds more like an over the top move...and also you might wanna flatten the lie a bit since the club is sitting on the heel...the over the top move might be caused by how the club looks at address and youre compensating for it as you swing thru...

part of the problem comes from your address position placing the hands too low with weight behind the lacves of your shoes. this leads to too flat a takeaway with a poor re-action in the wrist joints. the club nedds to sit toe up enough at adress to allow a coin to go roughly a third of the way under the leading edge to allow for shaft bowing. look to work on posture and moveaway and moveaway then check the clubs

Impact is the only position that matters, not address. But you are doing a dynamics test so it sounds like they are too upright at impact also.

A club that is too upright (like yours) will tend to cause balls to go left. But NOT because the heel is "digging in" to the ground. It is because as soon as the toe is raised, the face of the club points left. That is probably why you are drawing it with upright lies.
