Bethpage Black next Thursday

Recommended Posts

I will be visiting my inlaws next week and looking to get onto Bethpage Black. I have registered with the park to make my own tee time but being out of state I can only try to book two days in advance.

Any New York residents here on GolfWRX want to play the Black course with this Texan next Thursday?

Wish I could. For a weekday, you shouldn't have a problem getting on as a single if you arrive early in the morning.

being able to book two days in advance is not a problem. Unless you have access to multiple lines dialing the reservation number when they first open up 7 days in advance at 7:00pm, no chance!!! TRUST ME!!!! LOL. "all circuits are busy"!!!

For a thursday tee time, start calling the monday night (if you're not allowed to, don't worry) and first thing tuesday morning. WHY? because reservation holders have to cancel within 48 hours of be charged a penalty.

Even as a NYS resident, I always end up getting my tee time two days prior. I've given up on trying to get a tee time when they are first released.

Good luck and let us know if you get a tee time. Don't forget to show up 1 hour before your tee time to check in!!!

I was going to use the automated phone system on Tuesday evening for Thursday. Do you think that I would have a problem getting a tee time on there as a single?

TBH, if you don't mind hanging out a Bethpage (as in, you have nothing else planned for the day), you don't even need to make a reservation. Like i said, if you showed up early on Thursday there is a good chance you will get out as a single before noon.

If you're on a tight schedule that day, reservation will be the way to go.

Thank you for your feedback. I will be traveling (driving) all day Tuesday from Nashville to South Jersey (the inlaws domain) so I will call on my way.

Where in south jersey? That could be a hike. Granted, much closer than Texas.

Good point, didnt realize you were coming from S jersey. If you hit rush hour traffic you are toast...depending on where exactly in South Jersey it could potentially take like 4 hours (no joke).

I'm coming from Cherry Hill. I probably won't make the trek to Long Island if I don't manage to get a tee time on the Phone In system.

I agree with you guys, traffic here in the DFW area is terrible but nothing beats a standstill on the NJ Turnpike with no service roads to use.

Honestly, you might be better off NOT having a tee time. Coming from CH, you can either go through Staten Island (nightmare) or over the George Washington Bridge and to the cross Bronx (even bigger nightmare). The traffic is so unpredictable that it might take you 2.5 hours or it might take 5. If you have a tee time you have to be there 1 hour before and it will be difficult for you to time it with traffic be so unpredictable. If you just leave CH early (like 5am), you will get to BP at a reasonable hour and miss the worst of the rush hour traffic. You will def be able to get off before 12. I would even venture to say before 11:00 (if you get there by 7:30-8). The question is: Is the hassle worth it to you?

PS - The NJ Turnpike is the least of your worries traffic wise.

I will probably do that then. I figured that I would set out around 4:30-5 to head that way to try and avoid traffic. Thank you again for your help.
