Highland Links Cape Cod?

Good Evening,

 

Is Highland Links in Cape Cod worth playing (as a destination course)?

 

A little background... I have always dreamed of playing a links course, I am turning 30 next month and am in the process of planning a long weekend getaway with the wife.

 

The main goal of the trip is to get in some oceanfront golf- preferably on a links course.

 

The fact that it's only 9 holes doesn't bother me as my home course in CT is a 9 hole (hey, I'm 29 and it's cheap and private).

 

Has anyone had any experience playing this course? Also, are there any other options that I haven't stumbled across in my research so far?

 

I am new to New England, so I would really appreciate some guidance.

I've played the course many times. Just not this year! The course is under new management since May 2014. The golf course had been run by the town! This's truly a links golf course! The course is built along the ocean cliffs of Truro, which are approximately 100 feet high. The views are spectacular along the 6th hole of the Atlantic Ocean. The course length is around 5,200 yards, but will play longer due to the winds & weather! The greens are small & the course is on the hilly side--not a easy walk. It's fun to play! If you look beyond the 1st hole you ' ll notice to the right side on the hill Air Force bunker's used as surviellance during World War 11. I've always played the course in the fall & winter due to the public play during summer.
There's a 9 hole course in Welfeet, called Chequessett golf course, it's on the bay side. It's semi private, but worth playing-not a links course. They run a tournament ever year with 9 holes @ Chequessett & 9 @ Highland Links some time in June!
