First trip to Indianapolis (should I play Bear Slide)

Next week I embark on my first trip to Indianapolis.

 

I managed to get a tee time at Crooked Stick on the Friday morning. I will have time in the afternoon for one EXTRA round and Bear Slide seems like the best option in the vicinity. Is it a good track?

 

I am playing Brickyard on Saturday and the Fort on Sunday.

IMO, Bear Slide would definitely be worthwhile. Unfortunately, I haven't been up there this year, so I'm not certain of the current playing conditions. I think you'll enjoy the layout! Sounds like you're gonna hit some other really good courses as well! Enjoy the trip and hope this good fall weather continues for ya! Hit 'em well!

Thanks! I went through some of the other threads and found some tidbits and it sounds like a recommended track. The other option was Broadmoor, but I think I've hit my budget!

There are a couple courses that are similar in quality to Bear Slide on the north side of Indianapolis. The other options that I would put up there in the same realm of quality would be Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, IN (difficult links style course) or Prairie View in Carmel, IN (parkland style course). Both are public. If you're able to get on private courses and want to play another tough test, Wolf Run in Zionsville, IN would be your best bet in terms of quality. It will also be the hardest of the three suggestions I've made, but the most expensive as well. The good news is: you'll enjoy yourself on any of the four courses.

I played Wolf Run last month. Fantastic course. Very hard, but very fun. guest fee is $225 or something like that so know that going in.
