Also are the nicklaus/mcgregor irons blades and forged i couldnt tell at first glance. Ill post better pics after work if people want more. Thw titleist had an unhit face it looked like. The pbp putter is the one with wood insert. The irons i got a whole matching set

Nice pickup. Saw you post these pics on the modern board. You'll get more and better info and appreciation over here. I been watching a set of those titleist woods on the bay recently, brand new and unhit. The Golden Bears are forged like most everything back then. Cant beat a set of old MacGregors, except for Hogans but thats all debatable. Im a MacGregor fan by birth I guess since they were located in my hometown for a LOOOOOONG time.

Golden Bear was their low end department store set. they made laminated woods and irons in either full or starter sets.

 

My first set was a starter set of Golden Bears (different looking iron; yours was later than mine), 1 & 3 wood, 3-5-7-9 irons and putter, back in 7th or 8th grade (early 1970s). They weren't bad for what they are. I liked them better than the comparable Wilson (Blue Ridge model), Northwestern or Spalding (can't remember the set names) starter clubs.
