Red X...Opinions please!

Sorry guys, tried searching but the search function isn't working. What's the general consensus on this putter? Thinking of picking one up as I love the look. I spent some time with it the other day, and while it felt like it might take some time getting used to and seemed to have a very small sweet-spot (sometimes hard to find), there's something about it that I just like. Would love to hear your opinions....thanks.

P.S. is the black headcover the only one available?? Cause I NEED white!! Coulda sworn I saw a white Red X headcover somewhere....

Asked for and got one for Christmas.

Previously played a blade putter so the mallet took some getting used to.

I like mine a lot (don't 'love' it yet). Rolls nicely and has a nice feel. On my best day, it was money. On a mediocre day, it was still good.

The one thing is being careful because its easier to pull than the blade (I think its an issue with mallets).

I played most of the last season with my Red X2 in the bag. Rolls the ball nice, but I sometimes had trouble with distance control due to the insert in the face. All in all it is a solid putter. Not sure about the white headcover, may have been a special event headcover that you are going to have to pay big bucks to get your hands on. Only stock cover that was made for it is black.

I love this putter,

Have used it for 2 years now. The feel is excellent. Easy to just line up and putt. The sound is the best of any putter I have used.

I don't think there are any other Red X covers other than the standard black. The only other 2 I have seen are the My Girl putter cover $$$$ and the Disney special edition cover $$$$$$$$$$$. Never seen or heard of a white one. It there is a white one let me know, I want it.

From my limited experieance the other day, I thought the distance control needed getting used to as well. The ball seems to come off the face a little inconsistently depending on the strike. Seemed a little more "reboundy" with the insert as well...

There are definitley more solid feeling putters out there (Yes! Callie) but I still really want to like it.

if you do get one you will not regret it. i have had mine for a while and LOVE IT! that being said i am looking for a new putter because i want to switch to a blade haha. even when i get a new putter im gonna keep my red x and will continue to play it from time to time.

Only Scotty Cameron putter I like. I love it, although the distance control did take a little while, but the X was also my first mallet.

Came very close to buying one recently but decided to go with the YES! Victoria II. As much as I wanted the SC, it just didn't feel quite as 'confidence inspiring' as the YES!

I previously had a Red X2 and liked it a lot. I switched to the Red X2 a few years ago because I was struggling with the Newport that I had and I had rolled some good putts with the Red X2 so I picked it up. I never loved the putter, but I liked it. I have recently switched back to a blade putter as I had problems with the distance control. Not a bad putter at all. As for the white headcover, I have never seen one. That doesn't mean that there isn't one, but I haven't seen one if there is.

I first got a red x2 when the released a few years back. Since then i have changed putters as i did not get on with the centershaft however i have now got the perfect red x IMO and the only thing that would make me change if there was a plumbers neck version!!!

I have a RedX2, but I agree with the other posts: distance control can be an issue and it's easy to pull. This might have something to do with the way the center shafted club sets up (at least for me)--usually toe up unless you're careful. When I'm on with it, it's very good; when I'm off, it's not so good. I am now using the Detour Newport 2 with very good results, and have a Ping G5 B60, too. Both fit my eye and stroke better than the RedX2.

I pulled the trigger on a Red X on Ebay...should have it on Monday or Tuesday. Looking fwd to it. Although yesterday I was in Golf Galaxy and picked up a Yes! Callie (again!!). Had one before with the sightline on the top which, although I liked the putter, I couldn;t look at. The new version has the sightline in the cavity which suits my eye better. The guy at GG told me he'd knock $10.00 off so I couldn;t resist.

Looks like it'll be a shootout between the X and the Callie....ughh!!
