Tour Edge Exotic

off the ground?
My driver swing speed is 90 mph. My previous 3 wood was a Cleveland launcher with stock stiff shaft. I am 48 yrs old, and I have been slowly replacing my stiff shafted gear with regular shafted. I got the Exotic 3 wood with regular Fujikura shaft. Off the tee this thing is great. Off the fairway, the first 3 times I hit it, I hit 40 yard knuckle ball worm burners that never left the ground. I have never had a problem hitting fairway woods. I did manage to finally hit some off the ground, but nowhere near the distance from off the T. In both cases, I would not call this a high launch club.
My question is, could the regular shaft be too soft? I am wondering if I should have stayed with stiff for this particular brand of shaft (Fujikura).

I have the Tour Edge Bazooka Driver and I've lost over 40 yards when i compare it my PING ISI driver and my Callaway GBB. I have stock stiff shafts in all of them with high to mid kick points. The Tour edge driver didn't stay in the bag for long. If the wife can't hit it this weekend it will be on e-bay real soon.

I know others have had great success with these clubs, but I for one was not pleased. That is why there are so many clubs out there to hit, sooner or later we should all find something that we like.

Good luck

Thanks for the input. what I am really curious about is for those that have the Exotics with the stock Fijurika shafts, how do you find them in relation to other shafts you may have. Is Stiff feeling like stiff, regular like regular? I was thinking that this regular was feeling pretty whippy, but then I am used to stiff. I should also add, the other day when i played this for the first time the temp was about 45F (9C), so I know I was not as loose as normal.

i am with you on this one, i have not found the success that others are claiming with this club. I hit it ok, but not as well or as far as other fw clubs that i have, i will confirm that i think the stock shaft is not great, i think that is the biggest issue for me with it.

I am going to return it and go with Stiff shaft. unfortunately where I am, I am fast running out of golf weather, and not sure how much I will get to try it. Off the tee, I liked it, but didn't seem to have a tight control. Feel was great, distance was great. Off the fairway...welll.....

I'm with GolfChicago on this one...this is the longest and straightest 3w I've every hit. Maybe it's me, but I have not problem hititng it off the deck. My only criticism of the TEE is that its not that great out of the heavy rough...but then again what is except your wedge!?

I haven't had much of an issue with the shaft. The 'x' is pretty tight...maybe too tight for some, my concern is with the weight. IMO, if it was just heavier it'd might be just about perfect.

Did anyone think that you have to make a pretty good swing to hit a 3 wood off the deck?

Speaking for myself, I don't usually have any problem hitting off the fairway, but with this 3 wood and regular shaft, it never left the grass. But as I mentioned, I usually play stiff, but have been going to regular as my age increases, and swing speed decreases. I still typically hit my 3 wood about 225 (not like you big guys, but it is colder up here in the plains of Canada as well :drinks: )

I have to agree, bought the TEE with the regular flex and it felt very soft and the flight was very low. Reshafted with a prolaunch 75s soft tipped and the flight is still low. Will try putting in the stock shaft in stiff and see how that goes. If I still hit it low I guess it'll be up for sale.

I had heard that the stock shafts played rather soft, so I got mine with a stiff flex instead of my usual regular flex. The flex felt OK, but at68 grams, it just felt a little light and I had trouble feeling where the head was on the swing. I reshafted it with a pullout 757 R flex and it is a long, accurate monster. It's great off the tee or the fairway. It knocked my AGT Supernova out of the bag, and it took a great club to do that.

You're hitting it too low off the deck because you don't have enough swing speed to launch the ball high enough with enough spin. The TEE is a lower spinning 3 wood head, so unless you have the speed/swing to create enough to get it in the air high enough before it flattens out, you'll just hit low/mid trajectory bullets.
