Golf App

I have an android and tried swing by swing and golfshot in the past, but had trouble seeing the screen in the sun. Have they made any improvements, or is there any app the works best in bright daylight? Looking for distance tracking, moving pin on green, and tapping screen for yardage to that spot.

Any recommendations?

your scenario will never change as this is a hardware issue. the phone's physical screen -- any phone -- needs shade to project its luminescence.

 

but even projecting into a shadow, an app's UI should be bright and colorful, but using an app's GPS function to track yardage and positioning itself uses satellite imaging, which is usually darker.

 

I know there are some apps that use a graphic interface over GPS mapping. but what they are, I dunno. if you've read the thread you're aware I use Hole 19 and have no issue seeing the display... in the shade.

I've been using GolfPad for the bulk of this season, most recently with and Android Wear device. My process has been to score each shot from its location on the watch and then assign clubs between holes on the phone. Having to get the phone out between each hole is my only real complaint, but I highly doubt they will add club assignment to the watch given their desire to sell their Club Tracking Tags system.

 

My next round out I'll be trying out GolfShots after grabbing it for $8 on sale last week. It has the ability to assign a club to each shot from the watch, which is my only complaint about GolfPad. That said, I'll probably miss the GolfPad club recommendations while I build up enough data in GolfShots.

You might want to check out "foursum" for its simplicity. It's really good on the battery usage and uses only the phone's internal GPS chip and no data charge - maybe to bring up nearby courses is all.
