Tiger will not Play @ the Buick

I just heard on XM that Tiger will not play at the Buick next week. Can't say I blame him. But the tournament officials here in DC are optimistic he'll play in his inaugural tourney.

Interesting. I would have figured that he would be obligated to play this since Buick is one of his sponsors.

i dont blame him for playing, it is not like he needs the money, all it does is open a spot for someone else who needs it more. it is a special time for hime, his first child and i am sure elin does not want him to leave and wants him to wait on her hand and foot. it is not a big deal he is not playing there are still others playing and it leaves more to be wanted the next time he does play

There is an article on ESPN about this too. He isn't required to play Buick sponsored events. It also said he will become more of a GM sponsored player instead of just Buick, who GM owns.

I largely agree. I wonder if the PGA Tour has paternity leave? He doesn't need the money, he's killing in the world rankings, he's leading the FedEx cup. Why wouldn't he spend some time with his new daughter and help his wife - like a responsible husband?

 

If your neighbour just had a kid and decided to head out and work all over the place, and put his new kid and wife near the bottom of his priority list, you'd call him a world-class jerk.

I don't understand why this is a big deal to anyone. He isn't hurting for money, he isn't obligated, and there is a larger slot in the World Golf ranking between Tiger(#1) and Phil(#2) than there is in Phil and the LAST guy on the list. Hes obviously not going anywhere. Second of all, he is hosting a tournament in a week, which he really doesn't have to show up for unless he feels like it, he didn't like to play back to back before the kid, why in hell would he now?

 

Noone on tour is going to blame him for skipping, and neither should you

I was going to go to the practice round Monday just to watch Tiger. Now I will go play golf instead! GM doesn't need Tiger Woods to seel more cars. All they need to do is fire their whole design studio, and design vehicles that are appealing and cutting edge.

Actually, the 40 million was over a five year deal beginning in 2004.

There is no way on earth Tiger should play this week - it doesn't matter who his sponsor is or isn't, who is sponsoring the event, where he is in the world rankings, money list, FedEx points or anything else.

 

He has a new baby, and that is all that should need to be said.
