STOP RAINING!

mini rant
Ok, the rain situation is getting absurd here in Texas. I think we are in the top three wettest Junes now and it is killing my game. I have only played once in the last two weeks :) This is supposed to be the time of the year that I can get a full round in after work.

Heck I can't even mow my lawn...

Any DFWs playing through it?

You have probably been here long enough to know that the way you end a drought in Texas is with a flood!

I have two rainchecks from rounds that were washed out that I need to use sometime in the next 90 days if it ever quits raining.

In the Austin area there is no playing through it the last few days due to either heavy, heavy rain and/or thunderstorms.

The rain has finally stopped (for a day or two at least). Played w/ achu last weekend and ended up sitting under a tree in a monsoon! Everything got drenched, and it was UGLY!

I tried playing again on Tues after the rain, and let me tell ya, the humidity combined with the 90+ degree weather, cart-path only, soggy turf, slow greens... you gotta love Texas!

Hopefully it won't rain over the weekend so I can get some make-up golf in.

MKgolfer was kicking my *ss, good thing the rain came to stop him. I've never been out on the course in such hard rain, it came so fast and absolutely drenched us....like jumping in a lake with our bags.

If I wasn't playing with MKgolfer this weekend, my clubs would be out getting reshafted!!!! No use for them just sitting in my house without new shafts to try out....:)

Hey, all you Hill Country Guys. I was back home for a funeral last week and haven't seen that much rain in recent memory.

As far as looking for dry golf you could head up Memphis way. There must be a bubble over this part of the world.

the sun is shining today. should be drying up if the rain can hold off a few days.

they punched our greens a few weeks back so they should be coming in really nice...again...if it can hold off a few days.

i think i am going to try and squeeze off a few rounds in the next couple of days. i wonder if i know how to swing a club anymore?

Despite the morning thunderstorm, it was a humid and calm day with some thunder around the 330pm timeframe. Started at 2, finished at 6, would have finished sooner if it wasnt for the tournament which stacked up on the last 5 holes, the 2some in front of us had to wait at one tee box for approx 20-30 mins. We could see them from the tee box on 13 as we finished, they were still waiting to tee off. I have to say the guys were a bit off after all that and a bit peeved. Oh well, it was 90* today, I would expect the same tomorrow if the rain stays away.

Woke up to some blue skies and teed off at 8:30 this morning at Sweetwater. By 10:00, thunder and lightning was all over us, not to mention the buckets of rain. It went from 90* to cart path in a matter of 15 minutes. We ended up calling it quits again after 9 holes.

Sad to say, I always score better on days like these. Sucks not knowing what I would have ended up with.

By the time I got home, what do ya know, clear blue skies again... I've had enough of this stinkin' unpredictable weather... :)

Anybody playing tomorrow? I'm looking to get out but don't have a game. Let me know.

I was planning on getting a round in EARLY in the morning, but woke up and saw the storms building and moving and figured it would be a day of surfing(golfwrx) this mornng.

As for yesterday, our tee time was at 2, so when we saw the rain on the radar, it was just passing over cypresswood around 1-130. After that, it was pretty much overcast and humid. Just got lucky with that one thunderhead.

how was the tradition for ya?

It was in overall great shape, the rough was rougher than normal due to the rain. The greens were in excellent shape running on the medium side(definately slower than Fish Creek), the fairways(dont remember being in any :russian_roulette: ) was slightly fluffy. Some of the low spots where water could collect were definitely mush. The majority of the tee boxes were firm a few soft due to the shade and rain, otherwise in great shape.

I would have gone out to the tradition this morning again if it wasnt for the storms building and dumping all over cypresswood this morning.

EDIT: Yeah, I got my a** handed to me yesterday. I havent had that in awhile. My short game was non-existance basically from 80y and in. Oh well, like ppl say, the short game is first to go without practice. Had fun except for the last 5 holes, but made the most of it when my friends had trouble carrying the 15 and 16 holes off the tees. :)
