St Andrews New Course walk ons Saturdays

Hi,

You can't book a tee time for the New Course in the sumer but they are open for walk ons. Anyone know the chances of getting a walk on time for it, late May? I'm guessing it's not a rock up at 3am shot and queue in the vain hope of getting on?

Just want to work out whether to chance the walk on or book a less appealing course.

You should be fine. Probably no need to turn up at 3am as per the Old Course as the starter for the New Course wouldn't be there at that time anyway, but asking the starter at around 8am in the morning, and he'll probably get you on at some time that day without too many problems. Particularly as a single golfer. :taunt:

Nah, there will be four of us.

I've played it before winter time, but we wanted a wee weekend in St Andrews and hopefully play Jubilee and New Course. We can book Jubilee but New Course is looking a tougher proposition.

Mmmmmm, 4 of you could be more of a problem on a Saturday at the end of May to be truthful with you. Very hit and miss, and I'd define it as 50/50.

Shoot the Links Trust an email and try to get some feedback on that one. You may have to do some reading between the lines of what they say, but it's a damn site better than me telling you it's a 50/50 proposition, which isn't much good to you really, and not really what you want to hear.

We didn't get our Old Course ballot so we are trying to figure out our plan for Tue-Wed in St Andrews. We will probably try to do the ballot for TOC but would like an option for The New Course. What is the policy for The New Course Tee Times. I have also heard you can't book in advance. We have 8 golfers.

You can book the new course in advance, give them a call or shoot them an email.

I got my issue fixed. Jubilee Sat, New Course Sunday, staying overnight Friday, Sat in one golf place. Will try for the Old course ballot on the Friday. If that comes off it will be an epic weekend. Even if I only live 2hours drive away.

Not sure, my mate covered it on his credit card. I do know it is paid in full already, not a deposit. No doubt cancellation policy will be on the website.

Just to edit my original post, you can book the new course for any day except Saturdays. Saturdays are rock up and take your chance.
