Building a House W/ Simulator Room - Questions about Size

Hi All,

 

I'm currently in the planning process for building a new house and am going to be adding a simulator room in the basement.

• What size should I make the room? (width, height, and depth)?
  
• Should I put in ceiling lighting in the room or just leave it dark and rely on the projector for light?
  
• What projector and screen size should I get to maximize the size of the display?
  

 

As an aside, since its new construction, it won't cost much to dig the deeper basement, and my budget for the room itself including the simulator is ~$25k. I'm looking at either a trackman or GCQ right now.

If you look at the websites for Trackman and others they list room size minimums. Make sure to tack on extra room for the wet bar, large screen TV and humidor.

trackman isn't great for sim as putting and chipping is iffy. There are simulator specific forums you should really search.

 

 

General recommend for size - 10-11 tall (depending on how tall you are) 10 feet wide 20 feet long is ideal (foresight you only need enough room to swing).

 

Generally with a good projector you will want light and it will be fine. I would suggest dim-able and I added a black sheet behind my impact screen to brighten my image.

 

Screen size is preference but projector is depending on placement(short throw is most common because of distance and shadowing)

trackman sim is out of your budget also. I would take that off the list and maybe look at flightscope if you want to be able to use it outside in the summer.
