Inverness to Royal Dornoch

I am struggling to find the best way to get to Royal Dornoch from Inverness (aside from renting a car). Any thoughts? Thanks!

Take the train up to Tain, then get a cab I reckon?

You really ought to rent a car. I looked extensively into other options when I went up there (admittedly a decade ago but I doubt things have changed much) and you're either going to be spending a lot of time getting on and off buses or else you're going to spend far more money on taxi fares than it would cost to rent a car.

All that would be true if you were going just to RDGC but there's also the fact that several other courses in the area are worth playing, especially Brora which is quite a ways up the road from Dornoch. Those options are really not practical without a car.

IMO there are many of the best places to play golf in UK make it necessary to just bite the bullet and rent a car.

How are you travelling during the rest of your trip? Dornoch would be a major pain without a car as the rail line goes around the inlet south of Dornoch and then does a big bend, only joining the coast again up at Golspie.

Easy journey from Inverness with a car. They will have built the railway a long time before any of the bridges got built so its just not convenient
