Aldila DVS

I just picked up a couple of Aldila DVS at a PGA tour event a couple of weeks ago. I was wondering if any one knew anything about this shaft. It is a red/maroonish color. It also says, "powered by zyvex; Carbo nanotubes"

Sweet shaft!

This is the new shaft from Aldila that is the next generation of the VS Proto that goes on general release this fall/autumn. There's a golfwrx member called 'Shafted' that is one of the top bods at Aldila (V.P. Engineering/Product Development) so if you have any questions you should PM him.

This is a direct quote from him from this thread, re the DVS: 'The DVS is a direct follow on to the VS Proto. It has the same Next Generation Micro Laminate technology (including nano-tubes) and is produced on the same tooling. The DVS, however, has a very stiff butt section, and a very soft tip section - it is a half flex stiffer in the butt than the VS Proto, but is softer in the tip, the torques are essentially the same. We did this to provide a shaft that gives the extra kick and launch that some players need, but still feels very firm and stable in the hands. It has a lot of kick, but does not provide the "whippy" feeling that a lot of other higher launch, low kick shaft do!'

I have been using this shaft since May and it works great. It is the best shaft I have used. I replaced the OZIK X CON 7 with this shaft 80X is the version I am using. Much better feel and more consistent than the OZIK shaft.

from the sounds of that the DVS is going to be same to higher launch with more spin that the VS?????

I need an 80X in a 3 wood NOW! Soind like the perfect shaft. I thought the NVS was going to be good for me but is was crap! Too butt soft. A stiff but low kick! I think more of these are in play on tour than you think. They have a black version that is a proto out there as well.

The black version (known as XVS/SVS depending on flex) is not actually the tour proto of the DVS but actually the R&D version of the next generation after that which is due out in 2008. The DVS is scheduled for retail release in autumn/fall this year.

Pick up a Cinnamon. The best Aldila shaft ever by leaps and bounds. High launch, low spin with tight dispersion and low low tourque. One of the best shafts ever made IMHO. :cheesy:

Pure blasphemy, how dare you say ANYTHING is better than an Ozik. That will get you a lifetime ban from here, oh wait, wrong site, sorry :cheesy: I can't wait to try this shaft, sounds very good.

Yes, this is the same shaft as the new RED DVS you are seeing on tour.
