Is there a rule limiting the number?

I know that you can only have 14 clubs in a bag during tournament play. Is there a rule that limits the number of golf balls? Also, do you have to play the same type of golf ball from the beginning to the end of round. For example could you play hole one with a titleist pro v 1 and then switch on next hole to a pro v 1x? Just wondering.

There's no rule on limiting how many balls you can carry but there's a rule that allows you to play only one brand in competition round. So if you want to change from Pro V1 to V1x during the round, you cannot do that but you can carry 10 dozens of Pro V1 balls if you wish.

Just don't lose them all in a single round.

In a competitive round of golf, the committee often enacts the "one ball rule", which means you get one type of ball (i.e. Pro V1, or HX Tour) for the round, but you can bring as many of them as you can carry, and then stock up again at the pro shop at the turn if you need more....

The "one ball rule" has to be in the "conditions of competition" for it to be a rule active for a competition. Generally speaking, you will not see that rule unless it is a professional tournament or a very high level amateur competition.
