Tournament Scoring Spreadsheet

Not sure if this is the right spot but I play in a four ball tournament every July. It has 100 teams so there are a lot of players. They do everything manually when it comes to scoring and figuring out flights, skins, etc.

 

I'm trying to develop a spreadsheet in excel to speed up the scoring process and make it easier. I have everything working so that I can quickly sort the scores from lowest to highest as well as formatting so it highlights any potential skins. What I can't seem to figure out is how to set it up so that in the event of a tie from the first day scores it does a count back from 18 to determine the tie breaker. Does anyone have any ideas on how I would accomplish this? Thanks.

I did the same thing and came up with a nice 4 ball tournament scoring spreadsheet that does all sorts of things (calculates skins, skin totals, scoring stats by hole, etc). Anyway, the tiebreaker was the toughest part for me as well.

 

What I did to solve the issue is create a second total column. The first total column was the standard total of the 18 holes. The second total column uses the concatenate function....... =concatenate(total cell, hole 1 hdcp score cell, hole 2 hdcp score cell, hole 3 hdcp score cell, ...) * 1.

 

Essentially your result should look something like this..... 72454345344.... The first 2 digits will be the gross score and the next digit will be the score from the #1 handicap hole, then the #2 handicap hole, etc.

 

Remember, when you use the concatenate function it turns the values into text so you have to multiply * 1 to make it into a number.

 

Now you can use the rank function on that new total column to rank the teams.
