Another college golf question

This year I will be a Jr. I didn't tryout for my high school golf team when I was a freshmen because I hardly played. Right before my sophmore year I started playing a lot more so I tried out and shot horrible. I didn't stop playing and shortly after that I started working at my local course/home course so I got to play everyday. Now I have been playing golf just about everyday for around 8 months now (I have 1 week of no play because of vaca and I was sick for a few days...). I am going to tryout again for my Junior year and as long as I shoot under 90 i'll make the team. That's not the problem though. Right now I am an 8 handicap and would like to play competitive college golf. I was wondering if I had enough time to play at a serious college. I am still playing everyday to this day and I know a lot about my swing because I am self taught. To get even better I am starting to take lessons and I actually have my first one tomorrow. I also would like to add that I play all year round (as long as the snow isn't too bad). Do I have time to get good enough to play at a serious golf college?

 

I would also like to make a profession out of golf and become maybe a head pro at a course. But I would also like to know what other jobs in golf there are that give good pay with time to actually play golf. Money is a really important factor because I am already a huge club hoe but don't have the money right now so I would like to have it in the future. So, what other jobs in golf are there and how do I get there (what colleges support it or are there special colleges to go to)?

Use the link to the Ping guide that kiwidave posted as a source to figure out where you would fit with your playing ability. It is a pretty good indicator. Also here is a link to some info about the PGA's Professional Golf Management program: http://www.pga.com/home/pgaofamerica/profe...t-workshops.cfm. If you're looking into a golf related career, this program is fantastic.

If you want a career in the golf business, I would strongly recommend looking at a PGM program. I graduated from a small school with the best PGM program in the country. I believe there are about 25 of these programs now and it is pretty competitive to get in and the players are just as good.

Check out BIOLA university in So Cal. ITs a NAIA school that is relativly new and they are looking for players that are and have the potential to develope. THEY also have a great home course, its not well known to the public but ask anyone who has played it and they will tell you it desirves to be in the nations top, HACIENDA GC.
